(Rochester, Minn.) The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of outfielder Turner Buis and left-handed pitcher Erik Cha, from Cal State Fullerton.

Buis is a 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore outfielder from Fullerton, Calif.  He’s only made 4 pinch-hit appearances on the young season, but hit .273 during his freshman campaign.  A 2014 graduate of Fullerton High School, Buis finished his senior season hitting .338 with 12 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and a .505 on-base percentage.  He was named Second Team All-Freeway League as a senior and also earned the team’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

Cha is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed pitcher from Chino Hills, Calif.  A 2015 graduate of Ruben S. Ayala High School, Cha was their 2015 Male Athlete of the Year.  He finished his senior season 4-5 with a 1.53 ERA.  He made 11 starts, tossing two complete games and one shutout and struck out 58 in 59.2 innings of work.

Cal State Fullerton is currently ranked #25 and will take on Indiana this weekend as the Hoosiers come to CSF for a three-game set starting on Friday.

The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express.  The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm.
