Arkansas Pitchers Rogers and Reindl Join the 2016 Squad

The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of a duo of pitchers from another top 25 program in the nation. Weston Rogers and Jake Reindl from the University of Arkansas will join the Mallards pitching staff this summer.  The Razorbacks made an appearance at the College World Series in 2015 and are currently ranked 22 in the nation with a solid 3-0 start in 2016.

Rogers is a 6’4”, 215-pound freshman from Springdale, Arkansas.  The left-hander currently has a 1-0 record and four strikeouts in two innings pitched this year.  As a senior at Har-Ber High School, Rogers went 4-2 with a 1.11 ERA.  As a junior in 2014, Rogers finished with a 7-3 record, 93 strikeouts, and a 1.06 ERA.  He earned 7A All-State honors in 2014 and was named All-NWA Newcomer of the Year.

Rogers was not only successful on the field, but in the classroom as well.  He graduated with a 4.3 GPA, the best in his class.  Rogers was a member of the National Honors Society and the Arkansas FCA.

Reindl, a 6’1”, 190-pound, right-hander is in his first season with the Razorbacks.  The Fayetteville, AR native has made one appearance in 2016, striking out two in one inning of work.  Out of Shiloh High School, Reindl was ranked the number 12 prospect in the state of Arkansas by Perfect Game.

Reindl finished with an 8-2 record as a junior in 2014 with 0.75 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 65.2 innings pitched.  He was named to the 5A All-State team and the 5A All-State Tournament Team in 2014.  Reindl was part of the All-NWA Media Team in 2014 and 2013, and was named Underclass Honorable Mention in 2014 by Perfect Game.

Named Newcomer of the Year in 2013, Reindl went 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA in his sophomore year.  Just like his Arkansas teammate, Reindl also excelled academically.  He was named high school valedictorian and a National Merit Scholar.

The Mallards will host their home opener on Friday, June 3rd when they take on the new Northwoods League affiliate Rockford Rivets.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.  Single-game tickets for the 2016 season will go on sale at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 30th.
