Kent State’s Wollersheim & Mizzou’s Jordan Eying a Big Summer in NWL

La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers bolstered added a pair of talented freshman pitchers to their ever-growing 2016 roster today when they announced the signings of a pair of Wisconsin-born talents in Connor Wollersheim (Kent State) and Bryant Jordan (Missouri).

Connor Wollersheim is in the midst of his freshman campaign at Kent State University and has already made an impact on the mound for the Flashes.  The 6-2, 180 pound southpaw has made two appearances, including one start and has posted a 4.26 ERA over 6.1 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .227 batting average on the young season.  Wollersheim, a Neenah, Wisc. native, played his prep ball at Appleton North High School where he tallied a career 10-4 record with 193 strikeouts over 132.1 innings pitched.  The highlight of his high school career came last June when he fanned 20 batters in a Division I regional post-season contest.

Freshman right-hander Bryant Jordan is also embarking upon his first season of collegiate baseball at the University of Missouri and his commitment to the Loggers follows a long line of Mizzou pitchers who have taken the same summer path (Max Scherzer – 2004, Tyler Clark – 2008, Breckin  Williams – 2014, Liam Carter & Nolan Gromacki – 2015).  The Hubertus, Wisc. native garnered several accolades before stepping on campus at Missouri including 2015 Perfect Game honorable mention all-American honors.  Perfect Game also tabbed Jordan as the No. 2 recruit and the No. 1 right-handed pitcher in the entire state of Wisconsin coming out of high school, also ranking him as the 275th overall prospect in the nation.

Wollersheim, Jordan and the rest of the Loggers will open their 2016 season on the road on May 31, 2016 when they travel to Kenosha to take on the defending NWL Champions.  The 2016 home opener is then set for Thursday, June 2 when the Loggers welcome the St. Cloud Rox to the Lumber Yard for a 7:05 p.m. contest.

The La Crosse Loggers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Preparing for its 22nd season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
