Rafters Add Teammates Mattix And Busby

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – In the latest wave of roster additions, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are excited to announce the signings of outfielder Logan Mattix and right-handed pitcher Cameron Busby from Georgia College. Both sophomores, Mattix and Busby each are in the midst of strong campaigns for the Bobcats and will look to build on their exceptional performances in the nationally renowned Northwoods League.

“Both Logan and Cameron are having great spring seasons and we’re excited to have them bring their talents to Wisconsin Rapids this summer,” said Rafters general manager John Fanta.

OF – Logan Mattix, 6-0, 180, (R/R), Sophomore, Georgia College

Mattix, a sweet-swinging sophomore from Georgia, will call Witter Field his home this summer. After an all-state high school career at Loganville High School, Mattix busted onto the collegiate scene a year ago by earning 36 starting nods as a true freshman and posting a .316 batting average as well as tallies of five home runs, 46 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. In addition to finishing fourth on the Georgia College squad in batting average and runs batted in, he was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week on three occasions as the Bobcats captured the Peach Belt Championship at season’s end. To this point in his follow-up campaign, Mattix has not disappointed as he has smashed eight home runs and pushed across 23 RBI while swinging the bat at a .301 rate and swiping five bases. Logan hails from Loganville, Georgia.

P – Cameron Busby, 5-11, 150, (R/R), Sophomore, Georgia College

Joining Mattix in Wisconsin Rapids will be his Bobcat teammate and versatile right-handed pitcher Cameron Busby. Also a sophomore, Busby’s improvement from his collegiate debut as a freshman last year to his second season at Georgia College has been nothing short of incredible. After maintaining a 4.93 ERA and logging 80.1 innings in 20 appearances a year ago, Busby has established himself as a go-to arm out of the bullpen, already having piled up 44 innings in 16 appearances. Despite having worked exclusively in a relief capacity, Busby owns one save, 34 strikeouts, just five walks, and a team-leading five wins. Among pitchers with at least 15 innings of work on the Bobcat staff, Busby’s 2.86 ERA is the lowest. Busby is originally from Grovetown, Georgia.
