3 right-handers, 2 left-handers join pitching staff

Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Stingers are excited to announce that Ricky Reynoso (University of the Pacific), Theron Kay (Baylor University), Brandon Texiera (LSU-Shreveport), Brad Schaenzer (University of Kentucky), and Ryan Abraham (Oxnard Community College) have been added to the 2016 roster.

Reynoso, a freshman left-hander, has been an impact player for the Tigers right out of the gates this season. As the primary starting pitcher for Pacific on Saturdays, Reynoso has compiled 56.1 innings with 33 strikeouts. As a senior at Bonita Vista High School in San Diego, Reynoso posted a 10-2 record with an earned run average of 0.78. Reynoso had five complete games last year, with two of them being shut outs as well.

Kay has struck out six batters on the mound and has a 5.40 ERA. In 2015, as a freshman, Kay was fourth on the team in innings pitched (45) and batting average against (.284). Kay made 13 total appearances last season, with eight starts, and recorded a strikeout in seven consecutive games.

Texiera, a sophomore right-hander, has an 8-3 record for the Pilots and has made 13 appearances (12 starts) so far in 2016. Texiera leads the team with 72.2 innings pitched and is second in strikeouts with 60. Texiera had a stellar freshman season in 2014, before taking a redshirt year in 2015. Texiera had a 2-0 record in 17 appearances, pitched 28.1 innings, and had 21 strikeouts.

Schaenzer, a sophomore left-hander, is a versatile arm for the Wildcats with the ability to start and come out of the bullpen in relief. In 2016, Schaenzer has made nine relief appearances in 9.1 innings of work striking out 12 batters. As a freshman he appeared in 14 games posting a 1-0 record over the course of 24 innings and had 18 strikeouts.

Abraham has a 3-5 record and averages nearly a strikeout per inning pitched (64 strikeouts). In late February, Abraham threw a two-hit, complete game shutout against LA Pierce CC.
