Thunder Bay, Ont. – As the Border Cats continue to add to their 2016 roster a pair of juniors from the University of Rhode Island will be headed to Thunder Bay to play this summer.
Jesse Lee (Rhode Island) will be joining the 2016 Border Cats roster from the Rhode Island Rams. The outfielder is in his first year with the Rams and picked up 7 runs while also putting up a .929 fielding percentage yielding only one error in the season. The Rhode Island native played the previous season at Louisiana State University where he appeared in 28 games and picked up a .238 batting average, scoring 17 runs and driving in 14.
2012 Rhode Island State Champion, Matt Murphy (Rhode Island), will also be headed to the Border Cats from University of Rhode Island this summer. The fellow junior started in 38 games as the shortstop and nine as the relief pitcher for his previous team at Assumption College in Massachusetts. He led the starters with a .341 batting average before finishing with a .376 on base percentage. Murphy was also selected as the Northeast-10 Third Team All-Conference Utility player.

The Border Cats are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
