(Rochester, Minn.) – The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of right-handed pitchers Ethan Kenkel of South Dakota State and Robert Paccione of Long Island University, Post, to temporary contracts for the 2016 Northwoods League season.

Kenkel, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior, from Storm Lake, Iowa, is 2-3 with a 7.39 ERA with SDSU. In his 14 appearances with the Jackrabbits, in which two of them are starts, he has pitched 28 innings, has 24 strikeouts and 17 walks.  In his last outing against Minnesota, the junior went three innings, gave up four hits, two runs and struck out two in a 7-6 SDSU win.

Paccione, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound, freshman, from Commack, New York, is 1-4 with an 8.62 ERA with the Pioneers this season. In his seven appearances, he has pitched 15.2 innings, has nine strikeouts and five walks.

The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express.  The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm.
