BISMARCK, ND – The Larks are announcing the signing of Scooter Bynum of Northern Illinois, who will be playing for the Larks in their inaugural season.
A multi-sport high school standout from Fairbanks, AK; he helped lead Monroe Catholic High School to three straight 3A Alaska state titles in boy’s basketball. He also played the last two seasons at Arizona Western College, before signing his letter of intent to play at Northern Illinois University this season.
At Arizona Western, he played in 51 games, had a .351 batting average, and accumulated 33 RBI’s along with 5 Home Runs for the Matadors.
Bynum has also played summer baseball, as a member of the Mat-Su Miners playing in the Alaska Baseball League. With the Miners, he batted in 7 RBI’s, 9 runs, and 12 hits along with 2 stolen bases.
He aspires to someday play in the Major Leagues, being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds with the 545th overall pick in the 18th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Bynum opted to go to Arizona Western, and play collegiate baseball.
