Justin Felix and Aaron Antonini added to the Bombers
Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers are excited to announce the signing of two catchers, Justin Felix from Arkansas State University and Aaron Antonini from Middle Tennessee State University. This recruiting update is presented by OnStaff Group..
Bombers field manager Brian Solemsaas said adding Felix and Antonini complete a well-rounded catching trio for the Bombers.
Justin Felix: 6’1”, 225, Catcher, Bats/R, Throws/R, Arkansas State University (Jr.), Rio Rico, Ariz.
Felix will join the Bombers for his first season and his first in the Northwoods League. He also will play in his first year with Arkansas State, as he played the previous two seasons with the New Mexico Military Institute. Before college, the Rio Rico, Ariz. native attended Nogales High School, where he was an honorable mention all-conference selection.
Felix has gotten off to a fast start with the Red Wolves, through the first two games he has driven in nine runs in 11 total at-bats.
"Felix comes very touted out of New Mexico Military Institute and now at Arkansas State, and is already having a great start to his first season at the D1 level. I'm excited about signing someone with his skill set and working with him everyday,” said Solemsaas. “He is a middle of the order type bat that does a great job of controlling the game as a catcher. His leadership and ability levels will be a great addition to the club."
Aaron Antonini: 6’0”, 185, Catcher, Bats/S, Throws/R, Middle Tennessee State University (Fr.), Hollywood, Fla.
Antonini will join the Bombers this summer after finishing his first college season with the Blue Raiders.
The Hollywood, Fla., native attended North Broward Prep, where he hit .355 as a senior and was named to the 2016 all-county team as a catcher.
"Aaron rounds out a good catching corps with Felix and Blunt,” said Solemsaas. “I'm looking forward to working with him and seeing how he can develop. When he isn't catching, he will provide a good option off the bench as he is a solid switch hitter."
