Bulldog pitchers will head to Madison this summer
Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of two freshman pitchers from Fresno State University. California natives Tiegen Jones and Davis Moore will join the Mallards for the 2017 season.
Jones, a 6’4”, 190-pound freshman lefty from Sacramento, CA will be joining the Mallards after his first season with the Bulldogs. Jones is a 2016 graduate of Capitol Christian High School in Sacramento where he was named the California Junior Player of the Year in 2015. Jones earned First-Team All-State honors during his junior season as well. He led the Cougars to four straight Division V baseball championships.
As a senior, Jones posted a 5-3 record and a 1.84 ERA tossing 49.1 innings and striking out 82. He also limited his opponents to a .197 batting average. Jones has yet to appear in a game with the Bulldogs.
Moore, a 6’4’, 200-pound freshman right-hander from Rancho Cucamonga, CA will also head to Madison this summer. In Moore’s senior season at Los Osos High School as he threw 47.0 innings and struck out 50. He was named Southern Cal League All-Star in 2015 and was a member of the Los Angeles Angels Elite Scout Team. Following his high school performance, Jones was selected in the 37th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Moore has made three pitching appearances for Fresno State as he’s worked 7.2 innings, giving up just three hits and striking out six.
The Mallards will open their season at home on Tuesday, May 30th at 6:35 PM against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders. Group tickets for the 2017 season are on sale now.
