Position players head to Madison this summer

Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of a pair of position players from the ACC, sophomore infielder Cole Daily (Notre Dame) and freshman outfielder Jalen Harrison (Virginia).

Daily is a 6’1”, 184-pound sophomore infielder from Springfield, IL attended Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. During his freshman campaign at Notre Dame, Daily played in 26 games, started 12 at third, short and DH. He recorded a five game hitting streak between March 18-31. Overall, he posted a .352 on base percentage in 46 at bats. Following his freshman season, Daily played summer ball in the Northwoods League with the Wisconsin Woodchucks. He posted a .282 average with 20 runs scored in 40 games.

So far this spring Daily has started nine games and appeared in ten. He sports a .333 average and has four RBI’s and a pair of doubles.

Harrison, a 6’3”, 210-pound freshman outfielder from Palmyra, VA will be heading to Madison after his freshman season in Charlottesville. During high school, Harrison was a three-sport standout at St. Anne’s-Belfield in Charlottesville. He batted .400 and hit four home runs in his senior season and earned All-Region and All-Prep League Conference honors. Harrison was also named a Rawlings and Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American. He also excelled in football and basketball as he was a three-year All-State honoree on the gridiron and scored over 1,000 points during his career on the basketball court.

Harrison has played in three games and has one homer for the Cavaliers this spring.

The Mallards will open their season at home on Tuesday, May 30th at 6:35 PM against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders. Group tickets for the 2017 season are on sale now.
