Grafton, WI – The Chinooks will welcome back three pitchers who each made significant strides during the 2016 season and made the most of their Lakeshore experience. Tyler Jandron (Northwood University), Brandon Paar (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), and Luke Sommerfeld (Saint Louis University) will provide valuable experience to Eddy Morgan’s pitching staff in 2017.

Tyler Jandron, a 6’2 lefty from Negaunee, MI transferred from UW-Parkside to Northwoods University after a successful stint with the Chinooks in 2016. Jandron was consistent in seven starts, earning a 3-1 record and posting an ERA of 2.04 over 48.1 innings. He fanned 42 batters while walking only 28. Playing as a junior for the Division II Northwood Timberwolves, Jandron has been reunited with his brother, Tony who serves as an assistant coach for Jordan Bischel, the former field manager for the Green Bay Bullfrogs.

Brandon Paar will also return to the Chinooks after a change in schools as the former Madison College hurler transferred to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee for 2017. Paar, who is off to a solid start as a Panther reliever including a scoreless & hitless inning of work in an exhibition game with the Milwaukee Brewers, pitched well on a temp contract for Lakeshore last season. The 6’2 right-hander from Eagle, WI made eight appearances for Lakeshore and posted a stellar 1.03 ERA in 17.1 innings of work, including 15 strikeouts and seven walks.

Luke Sommerfeld was a workhorse for the Chinooks in 2016, making a team-high 18 appearances, mostly as a reliever. The Brookfield Central alum went wire to wire for the season with Lakeshore, including four innings of work in the team’s final playoff loss at Wisconsin Rapids. The 6’6 junior right-hander notched a 5.40 ERA in 40 innings of work, striking out 32 while walking 28. Sommerfeld will pitch on a temp contract in the first month after competing in his junior season for Saint Louis University where he will build on a career which has included 21 appearances as a freshman in 2015 and 16 appearances as a sophomore. Sommerfeld will provide a steady presence in the locker room and with the fans as the Chinooks welcome a host of new recruits to the roster.

You can catch your first glimpse of the 2017 Chinooks roster on Saturday, June 3rd when Lakeshore takes on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at 6:35pm at Kapco Park.
