Aaron Pleschner and Brett Bautista will be heading to Green Bay
Green Bay, Wis – The Green Bay Bullfrogs have announced the signing of two players to the 2017 season roster from San Jose State University, Aaron Pleschner and Brett Bautista.
Aaron Pleschner, a 6’0”, 185-pound infielder from Redwood City, California is in the middle of his sophomore season at San Jose State. The right-hander started 47 games at shortstop for the Spartans during his freshman campaign. Pleschner tallied up a .264 batting average and tacked on 26 RBIs throughout the season, which was a team high. For the 2017 season, Pleschner is off to a great start. The infielder is currently batting .346 with 18 hits, 7 runs scored and has started every game. Jason Hawkins, head coach of the Spartans, spoke highly of Pleschner, “Aaron is a dynamic shortstop that is starting to mature into a threat offensively. He can hit for average and is a threat on the base paths. He's very versatile, his glove skills are exceptional and he has a very strong arm.”
Joining Pleschner will be fellow San Jose State teammate, Brett Bautista, a 6’0”, 195-pound outfielder from Granite Bay, California. Bautista is in his redshirt-junior season with the Spartans. Last season, Bautista only appeared in 10 games before suffering an injury and receiving a medical redshirt. As a sophomore however, the left-handed hitter led the team in RBIs, runs scored, hits, multi-hit games, multi-RBI games and finished second on the team with a .297 batting average. Jason Hawkins, head coach of the Spartans, shared his opinion of Bautista, "Brett has an accomplished left-handed swing. He can hit to all fields and has real gap power. Brett is an above average runner that can play anywhere in the outfield and first base as well."
The San Jose State University Spartans are currently 6-8 on the year and have a home series against conference rival Nevada University this upcoming weekend.
The Bullfrogs will open their season at home Tuesday, May 30 at 6:35 p.m. against the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
