Grafton, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks have added three talented arms from smaller schools to this year’s roster. Nick Campe (Olivet Nazarene University), Erik Eggert (Saint Xavier University), MacGregor Hines (San Jacinto College) are each off to terrific starts in 2017 and will look to establish themselves on Eddy Morgan’s pitching staff.
Nick Campe helped lead Olivet Nazarene to the Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season co-championship in his sophomore season of 2016 and finished season ranked second in CCAC in appearances (22), third in saves (5), sixth in strikeouts (71)and led the CCAC in opponent’s batting average (.212). The Manteno, IL product also led the conference with nine saves as a freshman and was named the 2015 CCAC Relief Pitcher of the Year. Campe, who worked during his first two seasons with former Chinooks’ pitching coach Josh Rebandt, has transitioned to a starting role for the Tigers in 2017.
Erik Eggert was a first team All-Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference selection as a pitcher and utility player for Saint Xavier in 2016. During his sophomore, the Tinley Park, IL lefty tied for the team lead with 17 appearances on the mound and had a 5-1 record with a team-low 0.80 ERA in 33.2 innings of work. He recorded a team-best six saves while striking out 34 batters and holding opponents to a .152 batting average. While Eggert contributes on the Cougar infield, he has been instrumental as a reliever and currently leads Saint Xavier with three saves.
MacGregor Hines sat out his freshman season with the Florida Gators in 2016 after a stellar high school career in College Station, TX where he was named a Rawlings/Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American and to the Texas All-Region First Team prior to his senior year. That year he also struck out 12 batters in seven innings during the prestigious 2015 National High School Invitational in Cary, NC. Looking for a fresh start, Hines returned home to Texas where he enrolled at San Jacinto College and has gotten off to a hot start in 2017. With a 5-1 record, Hines has struck out 52 hitters in 37 innings of work with a solid 3.16 ERA.
