Grafton, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks have filled remaining spots on the roster with infielder Kody Matthews (Marshall), pitcher Marshall Oetting (Concordia-Ann Arbor), infielder Jacob Richardson (Southern Arkansas) and slugging outfielder Tyler Williams (Arizona State).
Kody Matthews has sat out this season after transferring to play for the Thundering Herd at Marshall from Missouri Western State where he hit .335 with 35 RBI, nine doubles, and five home runs. Expected to compete for the starting shortstop position with the Herd in 2017, Matthews will add immediate depth for the Chinooks.
Marshall Oetting has been having a terrific season for Concordia-Ann Arbor, a sister school of Concordia Wisconsin that competes in the NAIA. The lefty brings a wealth of experience having pitched nearly 80 innings this season with a 2.62 ERA and 6-2 record. As an All-State Honorable Mention pitcher in Missouri, Oetting threw two no hitters for Lincoln Lutheran.
Jacob Richardson is having a monster year for the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas after spending his first two seasons at Central Arkansas. At 205 pounds, the physical infielder has helped SAU to a national ranking this season by batting .369 with 42 RBI, eight home runs, and 12 doubles with a slugging percentage of .572. Richardson plays a third base, but is expected to compete at shortstop next season.
Tyler Williams will be the third Sun Devil to make the trip from the desert this season. A powerful outfielder who was drafted out of Raymond S. Kellis High School in Peoria, AZ by the Minnesota Twins with the 770th overall pick in the 26th round of the 2015 MLB Draft, the sophomore looks to provide consistent power for the Chinooks after a sophomore season in which he has hit five home runs in 34 games for ASU.
