Speedsters Tyler Williams and Jett Manning to play at the Duck Pond in 2017
Madison, Wis – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of two additional players who will join the Mallards throughout the summer of 2017. After the finale of their college baseball seasons, outfielder Tyler Williams (Arizona State University) and infielder Jett Manning (Frederick Community College) will head to Madison.
Williams, a 6’3” 236-pound sophomore from Peoria, AZ, will make his way to Madison for the summer. In 2015, he was named 1st Team All-American by Perfect Game. As a senior in high school, Williams was selected in the 26th round of the MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
In his freshman year at ASU, Williams started in 23 games and hit .205, earning himself a spot in the Top 100 College Freshman (D1baseball.com). So far in his 2017 campaign, Williams has improved his batting average to .235 while belting five homeruns and swiping seven bases as well.
Manning, a 6’3” 195-pound sophomore from Haymarket, VA will join the Mallards for the summer of 2017. Through two seasons with Frederick, Manning has proven that he can pull his weight offensively. In his freshman year, Manning hit at an impressive clip of .412 through 50 games. In that same season, the Haymarket native also drew 40 walks while only striking out 19 times.
In his 2017 season, Manning hit .430 with four homeruns and a team-leading 44 RBI. Though his bat is something special, perhaps his most impressive attribute is his craftiness on the base paths. This year, manning has stolen 33 bases while being caught only once. With Manning leading the offense, Frederick was able to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Region XX D2 tournament.
The Mallards will open their season at home on Tuesday, May 30th at 6:35 PM against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders. Group and single game tickets for the 2017 season are on sale now.
