Blaum and Roa bring 12th Man to the Lumberyard
La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers Baseball Club announced Monday that they will be adding two players from Texas A&M University to their 2018 roster. Freshman pitcher Christian Roa and redshirt-sophomore infielder Bryce Blaum will add power and versatility to the Loggers roster in 2018. The two Texas natives will join former Logger Cason Sherrod on the Aggies roster, who will be returning for his senior season after being selected in the 12th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
Christian Roa is a native of Houston, Texas where he was a three-year letter winner under Coach Jeremy York at Memorial High School. As a senior, the hard-throwing right hander recorded a 1.65 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 49.0 innings, earning All-District 15-6A Second Team honors and 2017 Houston Select All-American honors. Roa was also named to the 2017 Texas All-Region First Team and was a Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American selection. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound righty is listed as the No. 58 overall prospect and No. 14 RHP in the state of Texas for the class of 2017.
Bryce Blaum hails from Sugar Land, Texas and will join the Aggies after spending one season at Ole Miss. In 2017, Blaum played in 12 games and made a pair of starts at second base for the Rebels. The 6-foot utility infielder went 3-for-9 at the dish throughout the season and reached base in seven of his 13 plate appearances (.538 on base percentage). Blaum also earned a spot on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll during his time at the University of Mississippi. During his prep career at Clements High School, Blaum hit .410 with 10 home runs and 58 RBI while stealing 41 bases.
Roa and Blaum will join recently signed newcomers Jacob Blas and Donta Williams from the University of Arizona as well as returners Grant Judkins (Iowa), Korey Lee (California), Hunter Davis (Duke), and Mason McMahon (UW-La Crosse) on the 2018 La Crosse Loggers roster.
