The Kalamazoo Growlers announced today their first player signings of the 2018 season. The OnStaff Group recruiting trail is bringing Jason Sullivan, Daniel Ritcheson, and Dakota Roberts back to Kalamazoo. Sullivan, a junior at Central Michigan University, Ritcheson, a freshman at San Diego State, and Roberts, a redshirt junior at Northwood University, all appeared on the Growlers roster in 2017.

INF – Jason Sullivan | 5’11” | R/R | Sophomore | Central Michigan University

Sullivan is a Bartlett, Illinois, native. He was a four-year letter winner and two-year team captain at St. Francis High School. Sullivan was a 2012 Rich Janor Rookie of the Year Award recipient and a 2013 Rich Janor Golden Arm Award recipient. He posted a .417 batting average, had a .508 on-base percentage with three home runs, 20 stolen bases, and a .961 fielding percentage and was ranked No. 42 in the state of Illinois by Perfect Game coming out of high school.

In 66 games for the Growlers, Sullivan made 244 plate appearances, scoring 49 runs, 14 doubles, 3 home runs, with 33 RBI and a .299 batting average. He was named to the Major League Dreams Showcase roster and tallied a home run as well as two RBI in two at-bats in Madison.

RHP – Daniel Ritcheson | 6’4” | R/R | Freshman | San Diego State

Ritcheson competed for the Growlers as a recent high school graduate last season. He’s yet to make an appearance for the Aztecs, but was one of the school’s top recruits, ranked #16 overall in the state of California and #85 in the nation by Perfect Game. Ritcheson was selected in the 23rd round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Northridge, Calif. native made six appearances on the mound for the Growlers and was named to the MLDS roster along with Sullivan.

RHP – Dakota Roberts | 6’1” | R/R | Junior (Redshirt) | Northwood University

Roberts was a late addition to the roster last season and will rejoin the team on a temporary contract this year. A native of Howell, Mich., Roberts played two years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College before committing to Northwood.

Roberts threw 18 innings for the Growlers, striking out 15. He picked up a victory in both of his outings on the mound. The 6’1” righty was named Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night on Aug. 11, 2017 after throwing a complete game shutout against Green Bay.
