Green Bay, Wis – The Green Bay Bullfrogs have announced Chris Sabo will return for his second season as Field Manager in the 2018 campaign. Sabo has posted a decorated baseball career as both a coach and former big leaguer. Currently serving as a varsity baseball coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., Sabo is excited for another summer in Titletown.

“I loved my time last summer in Green Bay,” said Sabo. “Green Bay is a very nice town and I enjoyed the Bullfrogs fans very much. I wanted to return because I enjoyed the Northwoods League and enjoyed coaching top collegiate players.”

Sabo played nine Major League Baseball seasons, with his longest stint spent with the Cincinnati Reds from 1988-1993 and his final campaign in 1996. He was a member of the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and St Louis Cardinals in the 1994 and 1995 seasons. Sabo was named a three-time MLB All-Star and was Rookie of the Year in 1988, while adding a World Series Championship to his career resume in 1990.

Following an accomplished professional baseball career, he remained in the Cincinnati minor league system as a coach at the Advanced Rookie ball level, for the Billings Mustangs and Class A Dayton Dragons. The 2010 Reds Hall of Fame inductee and former Michigan Wolverine, also served as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati.

Sabo brings his extensive background in America’s National Pastime back to Green Bay for the 2018 campaign and looks to lead a successful summer for the Bullfrogs.

“Of course, my goal is for the Bullfrogs to make the NWL playoffs,” said Sabo. “We had a rough year in 2017 and I hope we have put together a roster that will be able to compete for the top spot in our division.”

Sabo also enjoys the overall experience of the prestigious Northwoods League and having the opportunity to mentor top collegiate baseball talent over the course of the summer.

“I enjoy coaching collegiate players because they are physically more mature than the average high school player,” said Sabo. “I feel they are able to grasp more complex baseball teachings and you see improvement quicker. I also enjoyed the travel in the NWL. It was great to see other parts of the country, especially the whole Wisconsin area.”

The Bullfrogs start the 2018 campaign on the road with a two-game series against the Rockford Rivets, before returning for the home opener against the Madison Mallards on Thursday, May 31st at 7:05 p.m. Group tickets are on sale now and single game tickets go on sale Friday, April 27th at 9:00 a.m. For information call the Bullfrogs Ticket Office at 920.497.7225, email info@greenbaybullfrogs.com, or stop by the ticket office at 315 S.
