Price and Jump Reinforce Loggers Pitching Staff

La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers Baseball Club announced Monday the addition of two pitchers from Liberty University. Sophomore right hander Garret Price and freshman lefty Skyler Jump have signed full season contracts to join the Loggers at Copeland Park this summer.

Garret Price is a 6-foot relief pitcher that made 21 total appearances on the mound for the Liberty Flames, including six starts during the second half of the season. Price was a valuable piece in his freshman season, recording the third most innings pitched on the staff with 58.2. The Evington, Virginia native ended with a 3.99 ERA and 5-1 record, striking out 57 batters while only surrendering 27 walks. In one of his most impressive outings of the year, Garret pitched three scoreless innings with five strikeouts in a March 7 win over Duke. As his second season at Liberty gets underway, it looks like Price has cemented himself in the back end of the Flames bullpen, helping the Flames to a 3-0 weekend over VCU in their first games of the season. Price earned two saves in the first two games of 2018, including a five strikeout performance in game two where the sophomore slammed the door shut for the final six outs in a 14-10 slugfest. His hot start includes an impressive eight strikeouts over just 3.1 innings of work to go along with a microscopic .083 opponent batting average.

Skyler Jump is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound freshman that attended Hoquiam High School in Washington. The hard throwing southpaw led his team to the State 1A championship game in back-to-back seasons (2015, 2016) and was the winning pitcher in the 2015 title game. Jump dominated throughout his prep career, posting a 1.33 earned run average with 204 strikeouts over three seasons before undergoing Tommy John surgery during his senior year. Perfect Game rated Jump as the No. 46 overall prospect and No. 5 LHP in the state of Washington for the class of 2017.

Price, Jump and the rest of the Liberty Flames will look to continue their strong start in a mid-week home game against James Madison on February 20 before hosting a three game series with the Binghamton University Bearcats this weekend.
