FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders have announced four more players who have been added to the 2018 roster.  Four players from two west coast schools (Oregon and UC Santa Barbara) will be joining the team this summer including Sam Cohen (UC Santa Barbara), Liam Steigerwald (UC Santa Barbara), Braden Stutzman (Oregon), & Nico Tellache (Oregon).

Cohen, a 6’1” junior catcher, is entering his third year of play for the Gauchos.  In his true sophomore season, Cohen entered 44 games and started 41 (34 at DH, six at catcher, one in left field).He batted .264/.318/.459 for the year with eight home runs, 24 RBIs, 12 walks, and 23 runs scored over 159 at-bats. As a true freshman, he provided one of the signature moments in UCSB history at the Super Regionals at Louisville, hitting a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth against All-American closer Zack Burdi to send UCSB to its first-ever College World Series.

Steigerwald, a 6’4” sophomore pitcher, will play in his second season at UC Santa Barbara this spring.  In his true freshman season, he made six appearances including one start.  Over 17 2/3 innings, he recorded a 1-2 record, 3.06 ERA, and eight strikeouts.  After his senior year in high school in 2016, he was named California High School Male Athlete of the Year.

Stutzman, a 5’10” sophomore catcher/outfielder, is entering his second season of play for the Ducks after redshirting in 2016.  Last season, Stutzman played in 25 games, making 14 starts with 13 in right field and one as designated hitter.  He was also named first-team Pac-12 All-Academic.

Tellache, a 6’0” pitcher, will play in his second season for Oregon this spring.  Last season, he appeared in eight games, pitching five innings with a 7.20 ERA and three strikeouts to seven walks.  Tellache was a four-year letterman at Canby High School (OR) and was named first-team all-state as a senior.
