Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of a pair of Texan hurlers for the 2018 season. Alex Reyes (New Mexico State) and Seth Campbell (Stephen F. Austin) will both play key roles as veterans on the Mallards pitching staff.

Reyes, a 6-foot-1 junior righty from El Paso, Texas, will join the Mallards after his third season with the Aggies. Last season, Reyes made 14 appearances out of the bullpen and compiled a 2.84 ERA. Overall, he struck out ten batters in 12.2 innings of work. Reyes has experience in the Northwoods League as well, last summer he posted a 3.78 ERA in 16.2 innings for the Willmar Stingers.

Campbell, a 6-foot-3 junior southpaw from Channelview, Texas, has been Stephen F. Austin’s most experienced relief pitcher during his first two seasons. Last spring, the lefty accumulated 24.1 innings of work and struck out 31 while walking only 13. Campbell has transitioned to the starting rotation this spring as he has made three starts thus far and has allowed opposing batters to hit just .226 during his 8.2 innings on the mound.

Together, Campbell and Reyes bring a lot of experience to the Mallards staff that will feature a nice mixture of young talent and players with plenty of valuable collegiate appearances.
