Ryan Moede Named NWL Executive of the Year, Bismarck Larks Voted Top Organization of 2018
Rochester, Minn. – The Northwoods League has announced that Ryan Moede, GM of the 2018 Northwoods League Summer Collegiate World Series Champion Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, has been named the 2018 Northwoods League Executive of the Year. The award, which was decided by a vote of team officials at the League’s annual fall meetings last week in Madison, WI is given annually to the League’s outstanding executive. In another vote, the Bismarck Larks were awarded the Organization of the Year award for the second straight season
“As the Northwoods League continues to grow in terms of the number of its terrific Affiliates as well as the number of talented executives who oversee them, these awards signify real achievement by their respective recipients,” said Northwoods League President Gary Hoover. “Congratulations to the Bismarck Larks for their outstanding accomplishments this past season, and to Ryan Moede for his performance at the helm of the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders.”
Of this award, Moede said, “I feel very honored and humbled to be selected as the NWL Executive of the Year. This award represents all the hard work from our full-time staff, interns, game-day staff, coaching staff and players to create a great family friendly environment to watch high quality baseball.”
Ryan just completed his second season as the General Manager of the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. Prior to his time in Fond du Lac he worked as the Director of Ticketing with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Before joining the Timber Rattlers, Ryan worked for the Sacramento River Cats (AAA – Oakland A’s) as a Ticket Sales Representative. He previously interned with the Milwaukee Brewers in their Corporate Marketing department. Ryan is a native of Algoma, WI.
The Bismarck Larks were honored as the Northwoods League Organization of the Year after an incredibly successful second season in the League. The Larks sold out 30 of their 36 home games – 3 more than last season and added 300 additional seats for each game, ranking in the top 15 in the country for summer collegiate baseball attendance (over 68,000 fans). The Larks raised over $40k for local charities, won the North Division’s First Half in dramatic fashion, played in their first ever home playoff game, and had five Northwoods League All Stars.
“I can’t thank our front office, seasonal staff, host families, coaches, players, business and community partners, and most importantly, our FANS enough for their unbelievable commitment to the Bismarck Larks and our mission: to use FUN to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Larks GM John Bollinger. “While true success is measured in smiles created and memories made at the ballpark, this award is a great reminder we’re doing some good things and we’re excited to make the experience even better in 2019.”
