Wednesday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games with nine road wins. The Lakeshore Chinooks, Wausau Woodchucks, Kenosha Kingfish, Thunder Bay Border Cats, and Badlands Big Sticks are still undefeated this 2024 season.

Rockford 5, Kalamazoo 2

The Rockford Rivets used a double-digit hitting day to take down the Kalamazoo Growlers 5-2. Matt Flaherty (Ballarmine) went 2-for-5 including the go-ahead three-run home run in the ninth. Jack Zebig (Maryville University) went 1-for-5 with a solo shot to start the game. Graham Kollen (Huntington University) pitched a solid four innings with nine strikeouts allowing five hits, two runs, and one walk. Patrick Straub (Ohio University) earned the win throwing two innings with one strikeout allowing no hits, runs, or walks.

Kenosha 4, Battle Creek 2

The Kenosha Kingfish secured the 4-2 win over the Battle Creek Battle Jacks with a productive sixth and seventh inning. Maxim Fullerton (Regis University) went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run double in the sixth. Noah Jouras (Davidson College) went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the seventh. Mason Hamlin (University of Texas of the Permian Basin) went 4-for-4 with an RBI single in the eighth. Brody Krzysiak (Oakland University) earned his first win of the season throwing seven innings with four strikeouts allowing six hits, two walks, and one run.

Traverse City 2, Kokomo 1

The Traverse City Pit Spitters pulled through in a 2-1 victory over the Kokomo Jackrabbits. Brody Capps (Wallace Community College-Dothan) went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI double in the fifth. Ethan Guerra (Paris Junior College) went 2-for-4 recording a double, a walk, a stolen base, and scoring once. Carson Fischer (Davenport University)earned the win throwing seven innings with five strikeouts allowing five hits, two walks, and one run.

Eau Claire 4, Rochester 3

The Eau Claire Express’ pitching staff shut down the Rochester Honkers 4-3 in today’s tight match-up. Gabe Richardson (University of Minnesota-Duluth) went 2-for-4 at the plate including a three-run bomb over left field in the fifth. Brigs Richartz (University of St. Thomas) went 1-for-2 drawing three walks with a stolen base and scoring once. Mattie Thomas (University of San Francisco) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first. Ryan Tiger (Rogers State University) went 1-for-4 also homering in the first. Drew Whalen (Western Kentucky) pitched a solid four innings with eight strikeouts having only faced fourteen batters allowing one hit, zero walks, and zero runs. Evan Esch (St. Thomas) earned the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts allowing seven hits, three runs, and one walk.

Wausau 8, Fond du Lac 3

The Wausau Woodchucks use a five-run eighth inning to power through the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 8-3. Max Galvin (Oklahoma State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the first. Drew Berkland (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run single in the eighth. Jake Berkland (Minnesota State University Mankato) went 1-for-3 recording an RBI, a walk, a stolen base, and scoring once. Ian Hoslett (Feather River College)earned the win throwing one inning with one strikeout allowing no walks, hits, or runs.

Lakeshore 12, Royal Oak 11

The Lakeshore Chinooks extend their record to 3-0 in an extra-inning 12-11 victory over the Royal Oak Leprechauns. Sam Hunt (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in the sixth. Prince Deboskie (Scottsdsdale Community College) went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in the second. Ryan Mckay (Michigan State University) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the fourth and drawing four walks. Connor Walters (University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh) earned the win throwing one innings with one strikeout allowing two walks, no runs, and no hits.

Madison 9, Green Bay 4

The Madison Mallards racked up thirteen hits in their 9-4 victory over the Green Bay Rockers. Liam Moreno (St. Cloud State University) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 drawing two walks recording five RBI and scoring once. Jake Schaffner (North Dakota State University) went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the second and the eighth. Seth Fami (University of Mississippi) went 2-for-3 with a double recording two RBI, two walks, and a stolen base. Ben Gregory (Maryville University) earned the win throwing five innings with three strikeouts allowing four walks, one hit, and zero earned runs.

Thunder Bay 4, La Crosse 2

The Thunder Bay Border Cats use a ninth-inning push to secure the 4-2 win over the La Crosse Loggers. Kenneth Sugi (Missouri University of Science & Technology) went 2-for-4 with a clutch RBI single in the ninth. Jacob Miller (Jefferson College (MO)) went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the sixth. Jack Collins (California State University Long Beach) went 1-for-3 recording a double, two RBI, and a stolen base. Ty Hamilton (University of Utah) earned the win throwing .2 innings allowing no hits, no walks, and no runs.

Duluth 6, Bismarck 4

The Duluth Huskies came out swinging early and defeated the Bismarck Larks 6-4. Corbin Grantham (Radford University) went 2-for-4 at the plate tallying a stolen base and a two-run single in the first. Mj Sweeney (Grossmont College) went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the ninth. Konnor Mcclellin (Folsom L) went 1-for-2 with a two-run double in the sixth. Issac Huetti (North Iowa Area Community College) went 2-for-4 recording two RBI and scoring once. Cale Haugen (Minnesota State University Mankato) earned the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts allowing one hit, one walk, and zero runs.

St. Cloud 7, Minot 5

The St. Cloud Rox takes down the Minot Hot Tots 7-5 in a tight match-up. Tyler Bishop (University Nebraska Omaha) went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the second, a solo home run in the fifth, a two-run single in the sixth, and his fifth RBI of the game in the eighth. Jake Perry (University of Minnesota) was perfect at the plate today going 4-for-4 with three doubles, two stolen bases, and scored three times. Tristan Moore ( University of Houston) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Bridgen Parker (University of Kansas) earned the win throwing two innings with one strikeout allowing four hits, one run, and no walks.

Wisconsin Rapids 7, Waterloo 6

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters used a five-run third innings to secure the 7-6 win over the Waterloo Bucks. Max Mcgwire (University of San Diego) went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in the third and a triple in the third. Miles Vandenheuvel (Eastern Arizona College) went 1-for-4 recording an RBI, a walk, a stolen base, and scoring once. Evan Morrison (McPherson College) was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 and tallying three RBI. Nicholas Perry (Colorado State University – Pueblo) earned the win throwing two innings with one strikeout allowing five hits, four runs, and one walk.

Badlands 2, Stingers 1

The Badlands Big Sticks use a ninth-inning run to take down the Willmar Stingers 2-1. Troy Berg (Iowa Central Community College) went 1-for-4 at the plate with a single in the fourth. Quade Peters (Eastern Illinois University)went 1-for-5 with a single in the sixth. Landon Kiefer (Albany State University) threw a solid six innings with five strikeouts allowing only one hit, one walk, and zero runs. Tj Spitdowski (LeTourneau University) earned the win throwing one inning with one strikeout allowing one hit, one walk, and zero runs.
