The Duluth Huskies walk it off in the tenth inning to take down the Badlands Big Sticks 10-9. One week down in the NWL and so far we have the Thunder Bay Border Cats leading the Great Plains East, the Wausau Woodchucks leading the Great Lakes West, the Traverse City Pit Spitters leading the Great Lakes East, and the Mankato MoonDogs leading the Great Plains West.
Traverse City 5, Kalamazoo 2
The Traverse City Pit Spitter get the road win defeating the Kalamazoo Growlers 5-2. Brandon Chang (Brown University) had a solid day at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double in the second, an RBI single in the sixth, and scored once. Carter Hain (Oakland University) went 2-for-4 including a double, a stolen base, and scoring once. Corey Berry (Wallace Community College-Dothan) went 2-for-4 with one RBI and scored once. Korbin Griffin (Ball State University) went 2-for-4 including an RBI double in the eighth. Dylan Krouse (University of Dallas) earned his second win of the season throwing seven innings with five strikeouts allowing seven hits, two walks, and zero runs.
Duluth 10, Badlands 9

Joe Vos (University of St. Thomas) showed promise at the plate today going 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the fourth, an RBI single in the ninth, and an RBI double in the tenth to tie up the game. Boots Landry (Texas AandM University) went 2-for-5 collecting three RBI. Mj Sweeney (Grossmont College) was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 including one double, one RBI, and scoring once. Kaden Carpenter (University of Utah) went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two walks, one stolen base, and scored once. Evan Applewick (Miami University Ohio) went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, and scored three times. Matthew Foley (Hill College) earned the win throwing one inning with one strikeout allowing one walk, one run, and zero hits.
Royal Oak 12, Kokomo 2
The Royal Oak Leprechauns ran up the score in their road win today beating the Kokomo Jackrabbits 12-2. Jack Boike (Adrian College) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with an RBI single in the second and scoring three times. Ryan Mckay (Michigan State University) went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles recording one RBI and scoring once. Nate Ball (Eastern Michigan University) went 1-for-5 collecting an RBI in the third and an RBI double in the fourth. David Ayers (Butler University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Ray Rivera (Florida Memorial University) went 2-for-2 with an RBI double in the eighth. Ryan Kruse (Valparaiso University) earned his first win of the season throwing three innings with three strikeouts allowing three walks, zero hits, and zero runs.
Mankato 4, St. Cloud 1
The Mankato MoonDogs used a four-run fifth inning to secure the win over the St. Cloud Rox 4-1. Josh Alexander (University of Louisiana at Lafayette) went 1-for-3 tallying a triple and one RBI. Andres Castro (Bellarmine University) went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the fourth. Kade Lewis (Butler University) went 2-for-4 at the plate including a solo home run in the ninth. The MoonDogs received a big game from their starting pitcher, Joe Ruzicka (Belmont University), who earned his first win of the season throwing six innings with ten strikeouts allowing three hits, two walks, and zero runs.
Waterloo 7, La Crosse 6
The Waterloo Bucks returned after last night’s loss and beat the La Crosse Loggers in tonight’s matchup 7-6. Larry Edwards (Oklahoma College-Tonkawa) had a day at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the fifth and a three-run home run in the sixth. Brennan Hudson (Georgia State University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his third of the season. Jack Collins (California State University Long Beach) went 3-for-4 including a pair of doubles collecting three RBI, and scoring once. Isaiah Byrkeland (Iowa Central Community College) earned his first win of the season throwing 1.1 innings with three strikeouts allowing two hits, two walks, and two runs.
Battle Creek 4, Kenosha 1
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks take down the Kenosha Kingfish 4-1 in tonight’s matchup. Alex Fernandes (University of Memphis) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run to start the game. Aidan Arbogast (Eastern Michigan University) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 drawing two walks and scoring once. Sam Griffith (Oakland University) went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one stolen base. Tyler Sager (Northwood University) earned the win throwing six innings with six strikeouts allowing three hits, one walk, and one run.
Thunder Bay 2, Eau Claire 1
The Thunder Bay Border Cats pull through and take down the Eau Claire Express 2-1. Kenneth Sugi (Missouri University of Science & Technology) went 1-for-3 with a two-run single in the fourth and recorded a stolen base. Cole Ketzner (University of South Alabama) went 2-for-4 including a double in the fourth. Justin Sedin (University of Wisconsin – Stout) went 1-for-3 scoring the only run for the Express. Andrew Hardin (Southwestern University (TX)) earned his second win of the season throwing 7.2 innings with six strikeouts allowing five hits, zero walks, and zero earned runs.
Wausau 3, Fond du Lac 1
The Wausau Woodchucks cannot be stopped with their eighth win today over the Fond du Lac Dock Spider, beating them 3-1. Jacob Haley (University of South Alabama) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the sixth. Deiten Lachance (McClennan Community) went 1-for-4 including a double and scoring once. Max Galvin (Oklahoma State University) went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Parker Knoll (Lawrence University) went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Tyler Smith (University of South Alabama) earned the win throwing six innings with five strikeouts allowing five hits, two walks, and one run.
Minot 14, Bismarck 4
The Minot Hot Tots ran up the score in their victory over the Bismarck Larks, beating them 14-4. Elias Fiddler (University of Utah) showed out at the plate today going 3-for-4 with a grand slam in the third and still was not done yet hitting his second home run, a two-run shot, in the seventh. Jack Mautousek (Florida Institute of Technology) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI single. Tristan Moore (University of Houston) went 2-for-4 collecting an RBI in the first and a two-run double in the fourth. Jonah Shields (California State University Bakersfield) went 3-for-5 with a triple, scoring three times, and one RBI. Wyatt Reginato (Colorado State University – Pueblo) went 3-for-4 scoring twice. Cullen Flowers (Galveston College) earned the win throwing three innings with two strikeouts allowing two walks, one hit, and zero runs.
Rockford 5, Rochester 3
The Rockford Rivets come out on top today defeating the Rochester Honkers 5-3. Mack Whitcomb (Tennessee Tech University) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double in the seventh and scored once. Jack Zebig (Maryville University) went 1-for-2 drawing three walks and scoring twice. Nick Demarco (Notre Dame) went 1-for-3 with one RBI and scored once. Mattie Thomas (University of San Francisco) went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the seventh. Dylan Petrey (Indiana State University) earned the win throwing five innings with five strikeouts allowing four hits, four walks, and one run.
