July 4th’s Northwoods League slate featured a doubleheader between the Madison Night Mares and Minot Honeybees.
Madison 13, Minot 3
The Madison Night Mares got it done in five mercy ruling the Minot Honeybees 13-3. Sydney Jones (North Carolina Central University) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 scoring once with a two-run home run and an RBI double. Chloe Wamboldt (Rock Valley College) was also perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 scoring once with three RBI and one stolen base. Lexie Shaver (Salt Lake Community College) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with a double, one RBI, and two stolen bases. Kayla Thomas (Campbell University) went 1-for-2 scoring twice with two RBI. Andrea Jaskowiak (University of Iowa) earned the win throwing five innings with six strikeouts allowing five hits, three walks, and two earned runs.
Madison 14, Minot 4
The Madison Night Mares secured the doubleheader sweep with a second mercy rule victory over the Minot Honeybees, winning game two 14-4. Brooke Steinhorst (Madison College) went 1-for-3 scoring twice with a double and collecting four RBI. Haley Remington (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 1-for-3 scoring twice with four RBI. Lexie Shaver (Salt Lake Community College) was perfect at the plate going 1-for-1 scoring twice with a double, two RBI, and one stolen base. Karlie Mckenzie (Eastern Illinois University) earned the win throwing four innings with six strikeouts allowing six hits, four runs, and five walks.
