Tuesday’s Northwoods League slate featured a doubleheader between the Madison Night Mares and the Mankato Habaneros.
Madison 9, Mankato 6
The Madison Night Mares came out hot in the first scoring six runs to end the Mankato Habaneros’ win streak beating them 9-6. Danielle Lucey (University of Wisconsin) went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and one stolen base. Brooke Steinhorst (Madison College) went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Hilary Blomberg (University of Wisconsin-Madison) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a double and one RBI. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run single and a three-run home run, collecting five RBI. Sailor Hall (Kirkwood Community College) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Karlie Mckenzie (Eastern Illinois University) earned the win throwing five innings with six strikeouts allowing five walks, one run, and one hit.
Mankato 9, Madison 7
The Manakato Habaneros come in clutch in the seventh scoring two runs to beat the Madison Habaneros 9-7. Sailor Hall (Kirkwood Community College) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with a solo home run. Emma Lee (Trine University) went 1-for-4 with a bases-clearing double. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with a double and one RBI. Tia Durst (Lake Land) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Haley Remington (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a two-run double. Addie Blomberg (South Dakota State University) went 2-for-3 scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned the win throwing 2.2 innings with two strikeouts allowing three hits, two runs, and one walk.
