Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured a doubleheader between the #1 Mankato Habaneros and the #2 Madison Night Mares.
Madison 12, Mankato 6
The Madison Night Mares lit up the scoreboard early scoring six runs in the second to help run up the score on the Mankato Habaneros 12-6. Mia Johnson (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a double and two RBI. Hilary Blomberg (University of Wisconsin-Madison) went 2-for-5 scoring once with a double, one stolen base, and one RBI. Addie Blomberg (South Dakota State University) went 2-for-3 scoring once with one RBI and two stolen bases. Haley Remington (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 3-for-5 scoring twice with two RBI and one stolen base. Brooke Holmes (St. Cloud State University) went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Jessa Snippes (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Andrea Jaskowiak (University of Iowa) earned the win throwing five innings with three strikeouts allowing seven hits, four runs, and four walks.
Madison 9, Mankato 8
The Madison Night Mares secured the doubleheader sweep taking down the Mankato Habaneros 9-8. Carly Oliver (University of the Cumberlands) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Haley Remington (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) went 1-for-2 scoring once with a double and two RBI. Hilary Blomberg (University of Wisconsin-Madison) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Chloe Wamboldt (Rock Valley College) went 4-for-5 scoring three times with two stolen bases. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 scoring twice with a pair of two-run home runs, and collecting five RBI. Brooke Holmes (St. Cloud State University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Sailor Hall (Minnesota State University, Mankato) went 1-for-2 scoring three times with a double and one RBI. Holly Lowenberg (Bryant and Stranton College) earned the win throwing 2.1 innings with one strikeout allowing two hits, two walks, and zero earned runs.
