Wednesday’s Northwoods League slate featured 13 games. The Madison Mallards, who punched their playoff ticket last night, put on a hit show this evening using a seven-run inning to take down the Lakeshore Chinooks 12-3.

Thunder Bay 8, Eau Claire 6

The Thunder Bay Border Cats take down the Eau Claire Express 8-6 in tonight’s matchup. Ashton Long (Crown College (MN)) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, collecting four RBI. Thomas Cooper (Valparaiso University (IN)) went 2-for-4 scoring once with two RBI. Nathanael Frederking (Boston College (MA)) went 2-for-4 scoring once with two RBI. Jake Busson (Iowa Central Community College) went 2-for-4 scoring twice with a solo home run and collecting three RBI. Austin Miller (Sauk Valley Community College) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a triple and one RBI. Parker Burgess (University of Illinois) threw a solid three innings with seven strikeouts allowing one hit. Trent Jordan (Arkansas State University-Mountain Home) earned the win throwing four innings allowing six hits, three runs, and three walks.

Kalamazoo 17, Royal Oak 10

The Kalamazoo Growlers used a monster fifth inning scoring seven runs to help defeat the Royal Oak Leprechauns 17-10. Korbin Griffin (Ball State University) went 2-for-6 scoring twice with a solo home run and a two-run double. Brodey Acres (Walsh University) went 3-for-6 scoring twice with a double, one stolen base, and four RBI. Travis Ilitch (Georgetown University) went 3-for-5 scoring three times with a pair of doubles and a solo home run. Lawson Knight (Gardner-Webb University) went 4-for-6 scoring three times with a double, two RBI, and one stolen base. Jayden Lopez (University California Riverside) went 2-for-3 scoring twice with a double, one RBI, and one stolen base. Drew Charters (Northwood University) went 2-for-5 scoring three times with a pair of doubles and one RBI. August Richie (Pima Community College) earned the win throwing 2.1 innings with four strikeouts allowing three hits, two runs, and two walks.

Kokomo 4, Battle Creek 3

The Kokomo Jackrabbits come in clutch scoring two runs in the eighth to help beat the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 4-3. Aidan Schenk (North Dakota State University) went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Eric Harper (NOC Tonkawa) went 1-for-3 scoring once with two stolen bases. Garrett Smith (Montana State University Billings) went 1-for-4 scoring once with one RBI. Cody Hultink (Davenport University) went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Max Babich (Saint Louis University) earned the win throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts allowing five walks and one hit.

St. Cloud 6, Willmar 2

The St. Cloud Rox take down the Willmar Stingers 6-2 in tonight’s matchup. RJ Stinson went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Jaixen Frost (University of Iowa) went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Max Buettenback (University of Nebraska) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a double and two stolen bases. Luke Zmolik (Ave Maria University) earned the win throwing 3.1 innings with six strikeouts allowing three walks, one hit, and one run. 

Fond du Lac 7, Wisconsin Rapids 2

The Fond du Lac Dock Spider collected thirteen hits in their 7-2 victory over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Drew Barragan (Embry Riddle Aeronautical) went 3-for-5 scoring once with a grand slam and a two-run triple. Aidan Jolley (Georgia Tech) went 3-for-4 scoring twice with a solo home run. Jorge De Goti (Nova Southeastern University) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Walker Buchanan (University of Virginia) went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Austin Kutz (Canisius College) earned the win throwing six innings with three strikeouts allowing four hits, two runs, and two walks.

Duluth 3, Waterloo 1

The Duluth Huskies scored two runs in the eighth to take down the Waterloo Bucks 3-1. Elijah Fairchild (California State University Northridge) went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Josh Duarte (Georgetown College) went 2-for-5 with a double. Joe Vos (University of St. Thomas) went 2-for-3 scoring once. Cole Smith (Southeastern Community College) went 1-for-3 scoring once with one stolen base. Cade Labruyere (Louisiana State University-Alexandria) went 1-for-3 with a double. Wausau 11, Minnesota 5

The Wausau Woodchucks came out hot scoring five runs in the first to help defeat the Minnesota Mud Puppies 11-5. Max Soliz Jr. (Auburn) went 2-for-4 scoring once with three RBI. Travis Lutz (Bradley University) went 1-for-4 scoring once with two RBI. Drew Berkland (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-4 scoring four times with two stolen bases. Gavyn Schacher (Maryville University) went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Josh Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Sebastian Escobar (Central Methodist University) earned the win throwing 5.1 innings with three strikeouts allowing nine hits, four runs, and two walks.

The Rochester Honkers walk it off to take down the La Crosse Loggers 5-4. Paul Schoenfeld (Colorado Mesa University) went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and one stolen base. The Green Bay Rockers shut out the Kenosha Kingfish 3-0 in tonight’s matchup. Sam Miller (Columbia University) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and one stolen base. Payton Mansfield (Jacksonville State University) went 1-for-3 scoring once with a double. Brandon Nigh (Oakland University) went 1-for-4 with a double. Steve Marhefke (Upper Iowa University) earned the win throwing seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts allowing three hits and three walks.

Bismarck 8, Mankato 4

The Bismarck Larks collected ten hits in their 8-4 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs. Sydney Ward (Univeristy of New Mexico) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Parker Winghart (Martin Luther College) went 3-for-4 scoring twice with one RBI. Yosuke Fujie went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Joey Appino (Carroll University) went 3-for-4 scoring twice with a double. Traverse City 18, Rockford 15

The Traverse City Pit Spitters used a monster third inning scoring eight runs to help beat the Rockford Rivets 18-15. Aaron Piasecki (Central Michigan University) went 1-for-4 scoring three times with a triple, two RBI, and one stolen base. Mark Kattula (University of Illinois at Springfield) went 3-for-6 scoring twice with a double and three RBI. The Minot Hot Tots collected sixteen hits in their 10-7 victory over the Badlands Big Sticks.
