
Tuesday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Kenosha Kingfish came back and walked it off 3-2 to split the series against the Wausau Woodchucks. Waterloo, Rockford, Battlecreek, St. Cloud, and Green Bay brought out their broomsticks with the sweep.
Battle Creek 15, Lakeshore 10
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks exploded in the second, scoring seven runs to sweep the Lakeshore Chinooks 15-10. Ryan Skjonsby (Washington State University) has himself a day, driving in four runs, going 2-for-3, and scoring three times. Charlie Berry (Truman State University) also drove four runs, going 2-for-5 and scoring once. Keaton Fisher (University of Northern Colorado) went 2-for-3, crossing the plate four times, recording a double and two walks. Aj Carter (University of Northern Colorado) went 2-for-4, scoring twice, recording a double, and one RBI. Anthony Sacchetti (Bryant and Stratton (WI) CC) was electric at the plate, going 4-for-5, scoring three times, and tallying a pair of doubles. Jacob Kowes (The Master’s University) went 3-for-5, reaching base four times and scoring once with one RBI. Brett Seils (Towson University) earned the win, throwing 0.2 innings with one strikeout, allowing two walks, one run, and one hit.
Royal Oak 16, Kalamazoo 13
The Royal Oak Leprechauns came back using a seven-run eighth inning and split the series, taking down defending champions Kalamazoo Growlers 16-13. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) was perfect at the plate, reaching base six times, scoring twice, and collecting two RBIs. Aidan Schuck (Oakland University) also had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2, scoring three times, recording a double, and two RBI. Dylan Larkins (Georgetown University) went 2-for-5, scoring twice and knocking in three runs on a triple. Tristan Crane (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 3-for-4, scoring three times with an RBI. Cole Garner (Chipola CC) went 3-for-4, scoring twice with three RBI. Gage Dickerson (Florida State College (JAX)) went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. Evan Rodriguez (South Florida State CC) went 2-for-4, scoring three times and recording a double. Gavin Moczydlowsky (Michigan State University) earned the win, throwing one scoreless inning with one strikeout and allowing two hits.
Rockford 10, Traverse City 3
The Rockford Rivets came out hot in the first frame, scoring six runs, aiding in their 10-3 victory over the Traverse City Pit Spitters. Tommy Townsend (Butler University) remains a solid producer, reaching base four times, going 1-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and drawing three walks. Tate Shimao (University of Hawaii)went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Joey Tessmer (Spring Arbor University) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with two stolen bases. Brandon Sanchez (University of Northern Colorado) went 1-for-2 with a double and a stolen base. Danny Cercello (University of Houston) earned the win with a strong start throwing 2.2 innings with three strikeouts allowing two hits, one hit, and one run.
St. Cloud 6, Minot 3
The St. Cloud Rox jumped out early in tonight’s 6-3 victory to secure the sweep over the Minot Hot Tots. Tanner Recchio (University of St. Thomas) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring twice, and recording two stolen bases. Tyler Bishop (University of Nebraska Omaha) went 2-for-5, scoring once and tallying the only extra-base hit for the Rox. Cole Meyer (Chattahoochee Valley CC) went 1-for-3 with a solo shot and reached base three times. JP Robertson (University of Mississippi) earned the win, dominating early, throwing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts, allowing one walk and one hit.
Waterloo 6, Duluth 2
The Waterloo Bucks racked up the score late in the game to sweep the Duluth Huskies 6-2. Jimmy Nugent (Lincoln Trail CC) went 1-for-4 with a double and recorded two RBI and one stolen base. Sam Finn (McNeese State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run double. Marcus Heusohn (McNeese State University) went 1-for-2, scoring three runs and tallying an extra-base hit. Jackson Rains (Arkansas-Little Rock) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kade Thompson (University of Arizona) went 1-for-2, scoring twice and recording a double. Brandon Rice (Mount St. Mary’s University (MD)) earned the win, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing two walks and two hits.
Rochester 6, La Crosse 0
The Rochester Honkers defeated the La Crosse Loggers, 6-0. Angel Cortez (Cal State Northridge) went 2-for-4, recording a double and two RBI. Allan Camerillo (Azusa Pacific University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in the second inning. Ryan Higgins (Los Angeles Valley CC) earned the win, setting the tone early by throwing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing one walk. Harmon Zylstra (Rochester Tech CC) locked down the second half with five no-hit innings.
Kenosha 3, Wausau 2
The Kenosha Kingfish came back and walked it off 3-2 to split the series against the Wausau Woodchucks. Tristan Ellis (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) sparked the offense, scoring the winning run, going 1-for-4 with one RBI and three stolen bases. Robert Newland (Kalamazoo College) went 1-for-3, crossing the plate once to tie the game. Christian Smith-Johnson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 2-for-4, collecting three stolen bases. Josh McClintock (Dodge City CC) went 1-for-3 with the team’s only extra-base hit and scored a run. Connor Trepanier (Wallace-Dothan) earned the win, closing out the game with two perfect innings, stacking up three strikeouts.
Mankato 4, Bismarck 3
The Mankato MoonDogs climb back on top to take down the Bismarck Larks 4-3 and split the series. Tony Lira (University of Arizona) went 2-for-4, recording a double and an RBI. Michael Carrano Jr. (Parkland CC) went 1-for-3, reaching base twice and scoring once. Brandon Vlcko (Minnesota State University) went 1-for-3, scoring once and collecting two stolen bases. Will Millard (Hillsdale College) went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Frankie Santiago (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4, scoring once and recording a double. Julius Ryan (Ottawa University (KS)) went 1-for-4, scoring twice and tallying two stolen bases. Augden Hallmark (Midland (TX) CC) earned the win, throwing 1.1 innings with two strikeouts, allowing five hits, two runs, and one walk. Trent Ash (Bethany Lutheran College) set the tone, throwing the first five innings, striking out five, and giving up no runs.
Fond du Lac 4, Madison 3
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders won against the Madison Mallards, 4-3, despite a two-run rally in the last inning. Jarren Sanderson ( Fairleigh Dickinson University) went 3-for-4, scoring once and collecting an RBI. Jimmy Mantuano III ( Fairleigh Dickinson University) went 2-for-4, scoring once and recording one RBI and one stolen base. Collin Senkpeil (South Suburban CC) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base. Gavin Brzozowski (Baylor University) went 2-for-3 with a two-run double. Dominic Jacoby (Harper College) went 2-for-3, scoring twice and recording an extra-base hit. Zak White (Saint Mary’s College) earned the win, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and giving up only one hit.
Green Bay 13, Wisconsin Rapids 1
The Green Bay Rockers get the sweep and use a five-run fourth inning to run up the score and defeat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 13-1. Brandon Rogers (Purdue University) went 1-for-4, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Cayden Sheffield (Georgia Tech) went 2-for-4, crossing the plate three times. Cooper Smith (University of Oklahoma) went 1-for-5 and tallied two RBIs. Diego Urreta (Fairleigh Dickinson University) was perfect at the plate, going 1-for-1, drawing four walks, and scoring twice. Maddox Long (Harding University) earned the win with a dominating start, throwing six scoreless innings, tallying eight strikeouts, and giving up only two hits and one walk.
Badlands 8, Willmar 3
The Badlands Big Sticks came out hot, scoring four in the first frame to help beat the Willmar Stingers 8-3. Wyatt Wilharm (Dickinson State University) racked up three RBIs going 1-for-4, including a two-run double. Troy Berg (Augustana University (MN)) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the seventh. Jayden Sanchez (University of Nevada, Las Vegas)went 2-for-3, scoring twice, recording a triple, and two RBI. Bryce Ronken (South Dakota State University) went 1-for-4 with a three-run triple. Justan Autry (Alvin CC) earned the win with a solid start, throwing four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and allowing four hits. Kobe Krenz (Metro State University of Denver) had a nice outing as well, shutting out the Stingers, giving up no hits or runs in the last four innings, and recording five strikeouts.
Eau Claire 22, Thunder Bay 2
The Eau Claire Express broke it open in the third, scoring eleven runs to demolish the Thunder Bay Border Cats 22-2. Alex Hendrickson (University of St. Thomas) was an RBI machine, only going 1-for-4 but making it count with a monster homerun and recording six RBI on the day, and scored three times. Nick Mascaro (Cal State Bakersfield) also had quite the day, going 3-for-4, scoring three times, and collecting two RBI. Matthew Cormier (Cal State Northridge) went 2-for-4, scoring three times with two RBI. Brenden Beals (Illinois State University) went 2-for-4, scoring three times, recording two RBI, and an extra-base hit. Adam Salazar (Cal State Bakersfield) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with two RBI. Jackson Glueck (Pima CC) went 1-for-6, scoring once with three RBI. Walker Retz (University of St. Thomas (MN)) earned the win, throwing five innings with seven strikeouts, allowing four walks and two hits.
