Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Royal Oak Leprechauns sweep the Traverse City Pit Spitters, winning game two 5-2. The St. Cloud Rox stay undefeated to start the season, taking down the Bismarck Larks 5-1.

Kalamazoo 11, Lakeshore 10

The Kalamazoo Growlers walk it off in extras, taking down the Lakeshore Chinooks 11-10. Mike Sprockett (Belmont University) was responsible for driving in the winning run with an RBI single. He went 4-for-6 on the day, tallying three RBI. Daniel Williams (Mid-American Christian) went 2-for-5, scoring three times, recording a double, and three RBI. Cole Garner (Chipola CC) went 3-for-5, scoring twice with one RBI. Gage Dickerson (Florida State College (JAX)) went 2-for-3, scoring once, recording a double, and drawing three walks. Drew Reynolds (University of Maine) went 1-for-4, making it count with a no-doubter grand slam. Tyler Papenbrock (Huntington University) earned the win, throwing the final 1.2 scoreless innings, collecting two strikeouts, giving up three walks, and no hits. 

Royal Oak 5, Traverse City 2

Jack Dauer (Yale University) went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Jake McNamara (Palm Beach Atlantic University) came in and was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2. Ryan Kruse (Valparaiso University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout and giving up one hit and one walk. Nick Brady (Thomas University) got the save, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout and giving up no hits or runs.

Wausau 12, Wisconsin Rapids 3

The Wausau Woodchucks ran up the score on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, beating them 12-3. Dylan Schlotterback (Paris JC) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring three times, and collecting two RBIs and three stolen bases. Jake Weatherspoon (Indian River State CC) went 2-for-4, scoring twice and recording two RBI. Easton Bryant (Brigham Young University) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Carter White (Lincoln Memorial University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts, allowing only one hit and one walk.

Madison 10, Fond du Lac 3

The Madison Mallards broke out in the fourth, scoring six runs to clobber the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10-3. Liam Moreno (St. Cloud State University) went 4-for-6, scoring once with two RBI. Mj Sweeney (Grossmont CC) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs.  Dominic Jacoby (Harper College) went 1-for-2 with a double and recorded one run, two RBIs, and drew three walks. Shai Robinson (Illinois State University) went 1-for-2, scoring three times with one RBI and drawing four walks. Francesco Capocci (University of North Carolina) earned the win, throwing four innings, collecting three strikeouts, allowing four walks, two hits, and two earned runs.

Rochester 6, Thunder Bay 5

The Rochester Honkers used a four-run fifth inning to top the Thunder Bay Border Cats 6-5. Angel Cortez (Cal State Northridge) went 2-for-5 with a double, one stolen base, and two RBIs. Maddox Haley (Southwestern College) went 1-for-2, scoring twice with one RBI, one stolen base, and drawing three walks. Manny Alberto (Three Rivers CC (MO)) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and one stolen base. Trae Cassidy (Ohio University) went 2-for-3, scoring once, recording a double, one stolen base, and one RBI. Bo Boettcher (Rochester Tech CC) earned the win, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, allowing only one hit.

Kenosha 14, Battle Creek 1

The Kenosha Kingfish came out hot in the first, scoring six runs to start the momentum in their dominating 14-1 win over the Battle Creek Battle Jacks. Trent Abel (Cal State Northridge) went 3-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Ivan Dahlberg (Illinois-Springfield) went 1-for-2, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Kyle Alivo (University of Iowa) went 1-for-3, scoring three times with one RBI and one stolen base. Jadan Boyce (Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa CC) went 1-for-3, scoring once with three RBIs. Max Strash (Rock Valley CC) earned the win, throwing six innings, collecting two strikeouts, allowing seven hits, one run, and one walk. Chris Rooney (Concordia University (WI)) got the save, throwing three scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing one hit and one walk.

La Crosse 8, Eau Claire 6

The La Crosse Loggers use a five-run fourth inning to take down the Eau Claire Express 8-6. Savion Flowers (Cisco JC) was an RBI machine, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a two-run single, plating once. Aaron Mingo (Long Beach City CC) went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and scored once. Ethan Edinger (University of Louisville) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. McGwire Turner (University of Montevallo) went 1-for-3 with a two-run double. Jackson Glueck (Pima CC) went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Cristien Banda (Long Beach State) has a standout performance on the mound, throwing three innings with seven strikeouts, allowing four hits, one run, and one walk.

Willmar 7, Minot 5

The Willmar Stingers came back and secured the sweep, beating the Minot Hot Tots 7-5. Jameson Martin (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBI and one stolen base. Bryce Ronken (South Dakota State University) came in as a pinch hitter and made it count, going 1-for-2, scoring once, and recording one RBI. Jordan Kuhnau (South Dakota State University) went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Trenton Lombardo (La Salle University) went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple and a double. Henry Allen (University of Georgia) went 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and recording one RBI. Eric Rawlings (Western Illinois University) earned the win, throwing a solid three innings with six strikeouts, giving up three hits and one run.

Green Bay 5, Rockford 4

The Green Bay Rockers split the series with Rockford Rivets winning game two 5-4. Parker Martin (University of Southern Indiana) went 2-for-4 with a solo shot and a double, crossing the plate twice. Max Humphrey (Kent State University) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, also crossing home plate twice. Simon Aluko (Shorter University) earned the win, throwing 1.1 no-hit innings with three strikeouts, allowing three walks and one run. Jack Fortner (Middle Tennessee State University) got the save, throwing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts, allowing one walk and no hits.

St. Cloud 5, Bismarck 1

The St. Cloud Rox stay undefeated to start the season, taking down the Bismarck Larks 5-1. Grant Sommers (University of Nebraska Omaha) went 1-for-4, scoring once and collecting two RBIs. Nolan Geislinger (Iowa Western CC) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases. Austin Haley (Kansas State) went 1-for-2, scoring once with two stolen bases. Erick Dessens (Paradise Valley CC) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Julius Ryan (Ottawa University (KS)) went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases. Rane Ritter (University of St. Thomas) earned the win, throwing 5.2 solid innings with six strikeouts, allowing four hits, one run, and one walk.

Badlands 7, Mankato 5

The Badlands Big Sticks sweep the Mankato MoonDogs in tonight’s 7-5 victory. Jadyn Roberts (Dickinson State University) came in clutch, going 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, scoring twice, and collecting two stolen bases. Troy Berg (Augustana University (MN)) went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Jayden Sanchez (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) went 2-for-3, scoring once and recording one RBI. Connor Massimini (East Texas Baptist University) went 1-for-2 with a double, scoring once, drawing three walks, and stealing three bases. Brandon Vlcko (Minnesota State University) went 1-for-3 with a solo shot. Riley Roskopf (Metro State University of Denver) earned the win, throwing one inning with two strikeouts, allowing two hits, two earned runs, and one walk. Gavyn Schlotterback (Paris JC) got the save, throwing one perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Waterloo 15, Duluth 1

The Waterloo Bucks dominated the Duluth Huskies 15-1 in tonight’s slugfest. Ethan Rossi (Eastern Illinois University) went 2-for-3, scoring three times and collecting three RBIs and one stolen base. Will Johnson (Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa CC) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring three times with a double and recording two RBIs and one stolen base. Parker Sweeney (Virginia Tech) came in as the pinch hitter and made it count, going 1-for-2, scoring once and tallying two RBIs. Marcus Heusohn (McNeese State University) went 1-for-2, scoring twice and collecting one stolen base. Chris Peterson (University of St. Thomas) earned the win, throwing scoreless 6.2 innings with six strikeouts, allowing five hits and two walks.
