Wednesday’s Northwoods League slate featured 11 games. The Wausau Woodchucks get their 1000th regular season win using a monster fifth inning scoring nine runs to take down the Royal Oak Leprechauns 14-3.

Thunder Bay 10, Duluth 9

In a back-and-forth thriller, the Thunder Bay Border Cats walked it off in the ninth to edge the Duluth Huskies 10-9. Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, recording three RBIs and one stolen base. Manny Alberto (Three Rivers CC (MO)) had a day at the plate going 4-for-5, scoring three times and stealing four bases. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) used a pinch-hit opportunity, going 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Michael Smith (Prairie View A&M University) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, tallying two RBIs and two runs. Kade Thompson (University of Arizona) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Noah Furcht (Charlotte University) went 4-for-5, scoring once with one RBI. Jackson Hohensee (Arizona Christian University) earned the win, throwing one inning, allowing one hit and one run.

Wausau 14, Royal Oak 3

Josh McClintock (Dodge City CC) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Keagen Jirschele (South Dakota State University) went 1-for-5 with a double, collecting two RBIs and one run. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) went 1-for-3 with a two-run double. Nolan Bernard (University of South Florida) earned the win, throwing five scoreless no-hit innings with five strikeouts. 

Madison 5, Green Bay 2

The Madison Mallards jump out with an early lead, scoring three runs in the second, winning 5-2 to sweep the Green Bay Rockers. Jimmy Anderson (Heartland CC) went 3-for-4, scoring once with three RBIs and one stolen base. Thomas Curry (University of Illinois-Chicago) went 3-for-4, scoring three times with one RBI. Kade Durnin (Texas Christian University) earned the win, throwing three innings with two strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit. Joe Husak (Illinois State University) got the save, throwing 1.1 scoreless no-hit innings, allowing two strikeouts.

Wisconsin Rapids 11, Waterloo 4

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters exploded early and never looked back, defeating the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 11-4. Kameron Douglas (Alabama State University) had himself a day, going 3-for-5, scoring twice with four RBIs and two stolen bases. Chris Diaz (Marist College) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring once with one RBI, and tallying three stolen bases. Noah Ruiz (Biola University) went 1-for-3 with a double, scoring twice with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Matthew Pinal (Hope International University) went 2-for-5, scoring once with two RBIs. Matt Hansen (Brigham Young University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Drew Thompson (North Central Texas CC) earned the win, throwing three innings with four strikeouts, allowing three hits, three walks, and two earned runs. Tony Torres (Southeastern Louisiana University) got the save, throwing the last two innings, collecting two strikeouts and giving up two walks, one run, and one hit.

Waterloo 7, Rochester 5

The Waterloo Bucks capitalized on late offense to top the Rochester Honkers 7-5. Mack Brousseau (McNeese State University) went 1-for-3 with the go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth, also tallying two stolen bases. Trey Butler (University of Louisville) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs, and one stolen base. Owen Ross (USC – Upstate) went 2-for-4, scoring once, including a triple and three stolen bases. Jake Slade (Virginia Tech) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with two stolen bases. Keegan Landis (Colorado Mesa University) went 2-for-4, scoring once with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Maddox Haley (Gonzaga University) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Tyler Glowacki (Upper Iowa University) earned the win, throwing one scoreless no-hit inning with two strikeouts. Brody Leyboldt (Iowa Western CC) got the save, throwing the last inning, striking out three of three batters faced.

Kenosha 4, Traverse City 3

The Kenosha Kingfish staged a stunning late rally, scoring four runs in the eighth inning to edge out the Traverse City Pit Spitters 4-3. Trent Abel (Cal State Northridge) went 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing double. Aiden Brunin (Spring Arbor University) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Adam Broski (Michigan State University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two stolen bases. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) went 3-for-5 with one stolen base. Chris Rooney (Concordia University (WI)) earned the win by throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Brendan Roberts (Carthage College) got the save, throwing to the final two batters and striking out one.

Lakshore 2, Battle Creek 1

The Lakeshore Chinooks walk it off in extras, taking down the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 2-1. Esteban Garcia (Boston College) drove in the winning run on a single, going 1-for-4, scoring once and tallying three stolen bases. Collin Senior (Pima CC) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with one RBI and one stolen base. Zander Bretza (San Diego State University) earned the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless no-hit innings with two strikeouts. Nate Gray (Pima CC) set the tone with a strong start, throwing six innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit and one run.

St. Cloud 8, Mankato 1

The St.Cloud Rox dominated the Mankato MoonDogs 8-1, pulling away in the sixth, scoring five runs. Cayden Gaskin (University of South Carolina) went 3-for-5, scoring once, including a three-run home run and recording five RBIs. Joshua Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Nolan Geislinger (Iowa Western CC) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2, scoring twice with two stolen bases. Riane Ritter (University of St. Thomas) earned the win, throwing five innings with seven strikeouts, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run. Alex Dupuy (University of Alabama-Birmingham) had a statement close to throwing the last inning, striking out three of three batters faced.

Minot 8, Bismarck 6

The Minot Hot Tots used a big second and sixth innings to outlast the Bismarck Larks 8-6. Henry Allen (University of Georgia) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Caleb Scott (Wallace Dothan CC) went 1-for-2, scoring once with two RBIs. Ryan Christiansen (Sacramento State University) went 2-for-5, including a double, scoring once and recording one RBI. Sonnier Mosses (Prairie View A&M University) goes 1-for-1, scoring twice with one stolen base. Camden Dimidjian (University of Southern Indiana) earned the win, throwing seven innings with two strikeouts, allowing five hits, four runs, and four walks. Nolan Girard (University of Illinois) got the save, throwing two innings with two strikeouts, allowing three walks, three hits, and two runs.

Badlands 10, Willmar 8

The Badlands Big Sticks outslugged the Willmar Stingers 10-8 in a high-scoring affair. Ryan Muizelaar (University of Jamestown) went 4-for-6, recording a double, one run, and three RBIs. Jayden Sanchez (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring four times with two stolen bases. Connor Massimini (East Texas Baptist University) went 1-for-5 with a double, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Matthew Pena (Cal State Northridge) had a day at the plate going 3-for-4, scoring four times with a pair of doubles and a solo home run, tallying three RBIs. Joey Craig (New Mexico State University) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, collecting three RBIs. Lucas Winburn (Kaskaskia CC) earned the win throwing five innings with four strikeouts, allowing five runs, four hits, and three walks.

La Crosse 4, Eau Claire 3

The La Crosse Loggers scored four runs on four hits, capitalizing on clean defense, taking down Eau Claire 4-3. Eli Small (University of Kentucky) went 1-for-3, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Carson Ohland (Grand Canyon University)  went 1-for-3, scoring once, drawing two walks. Nick Mascaro (Cal State Bakersfield) went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Jake Busson (Iowa Central CC) went 2-for-4 and scored twice. Cristien Banda (Long Beach State) earned the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless no-hit innings with three strikeouts.
