Thursday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Lakeshore Chinooks edged out the Kenosha Kingfish 4-3 in extras, scoring the go-ahead run in the tenth. The St.Cloud Rox came back and clutched it out, scoring three runs in the ninth to take down the Mankato MoonDogs 7-6.

Minot 9, Willmar 3

The Minot Hot Tots scored seven runs in the fifth to help seal the 9-3 win over the Willmar Stingers. Matt Toomey (Long Beach State University) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. TJ Stottlemyre (Cal State Fullerton) went 1-for-3 with a double, scoring one, collecting two RBIs. Kobe Eikmeier (Augustana University (MN)) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI single. Noah Dreier (Saint Xavier University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit.

Battle Creek 10, Kalamazoo 6

The Battle Creek Battle Jacks used a massive 8-run third inning to rally past the Kalamazoo Growlers, winning 10-6 despite being outhit 11-7. Scuba Smolinski (Grand Canyon University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with three RBIs. Ryan Skjonsby (Washington State University) went 2-for-4, including a double, scoring once with one RBI. Joshua Algarin (Walsh University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Noah Coy (University of Notre Dame) went 3-for-4, including a double, scoring once, and recording two RBIs. Cole Garner went 2-for-3, scoring once with one RBI. Jack Messmore (Univeristy of New Mexico) earned the win, throwing three innings with one strikeout, allowing three walks and two hits.

Green Bay 16, Fond du Lac 2

The Green Bay Rockers exploded in tonight’s matchup, dominating the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 16-2. Justin Journette (Norfolk State University) went 4-for-6, including a triple, racking up four RBIs and two runs. Cooper Smith (University of Oklahoma) went 2-for-3, scoring twice with four RBIs and drawing three walks. Parker Martin (University of Southern Indiana) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring three times with one RBI. Collin Helms (Harding University) went 3-for-6, including a double, and scored three times. Eli Selga (San Diego State University) went 1-for-6, scoring once with three RBIs. Jalen Gellings (Madison CC) went 2-for-3, scoring once and tallying two stolen bases. Heitaro Hayashi (Wagner College) earned the win, throwing six innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits and one run. Cord Copley (Bossier Parish CC) got the save, throwing three innings with four strikeouts, allowing four walks, four hits, and one run.

Royal Oak 9, Wisconsin Rapids 7

The Royal Oak Leprechauns held off a late push from the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to win 9-7 in a back-and-forth battle. Nolan Alvord (Grand Valley State University) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 including a bases-clearing double, racking up six RBIs. Max Orozco (Oakland University) went 2-for-3, scoring three times with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Owen Turner (Yale University) went 1-for-3, scoring three times with a double and one stolen base. Ashton Zacher (Southern Nevada CC) utilized a pinch-hit opportunity, going 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Hiroto Kobayashi (Lewis-Clark State College) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Mason Onate (Pensacola State College) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Cal Rutherford (Eastern Michigan University) earned the win, throwing five innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits, two runs, and two walks. Fischer Hendershot (Eastern Michigan University) got the save, striking out one of two batters faced.

Wausau 6, Madison 5

The Wausau Woodchucks erased an early deficit with a four-run fourth inning and held on to edge the Madison Mallards 6-5. Jake Weatherspoon (Indian River State CC) went 1-for-2, scoring once with two RBIs. Zach Knowlton (Central Michigan University) was perfect at the plate, going 1-for-1, drawing two walks, and stealing two bases. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) went 2-for-4, including a double, scoring once with one stolen base. Thomas Curry (University of Illinois-Chicago) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Jordy Lopez (University of California, Berkeley) went 1-for-2, scoring once with three stolen bases. Landon Sexton (USC Upstate) earned the win, throwing 4.1 innings with three strikeouts, allowing three hits, two runs, and one walk. Reece Clapp (Bradley University) got the save, throwing the last two innings with three strikeouts, allowing no hits or runs.

Rochester 11, Eau Claire 5

The Rochester Honkers exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning and piled up fifteen hits to power past the Eau Claire Express 11-5. Joel Roberts (San Joaquin Delta (CA) CC) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs. Angel Cortez (Cal State Northridge) went 3-for-5, scoring twice with two RBIs. Jackson LaLima (University of Houston) went 1-for-5 with a two-run double. Alex Hendrickson (University of St. Thomas) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and three stolen bases. Ethan Dillinger (Air Force) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with four strikeouts, allowing five hits and one walk. Marcus Champagne (Upper Iowa University) got the save, throwing four innings with six strikeouts, allowing five runs, four hits, and one walk.

Duluth 10, La Crosse 6

The Duluth Huskies broke things open with a four-run sixth inning and held off the La Crosse Loggers for a 10-6 win. Michael Smith (Prairie View A&M University) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2, scoring twice, recording a double, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Zan Von Schlegell (University of St. Thomas (MN)) went 2-for-2, scoring once with one RBI, drawing three walks. Anthony Zarzana (Wallace CC Dothan) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Kade Thompson (University of Arizona) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with two RBIs.  Carson Ohland (Grand Canyon University) went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scoring once with one RBI. Kanon Sundgren (University of Nebraska) went 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Max Nelson (University of St. Thomas (MN)) earned the win, throwing 1.2 innings with two strikeouts, allowing three runs, two walks, and two hits.

Lakeshore 4, Kenosha 3

Drew Reynolds (University of Maine) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Dayton Murphy (Michigan State University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with one RBI. Bobby Perebzak (University of Hawaii) earned the win, throwing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit. 

St. Cloud 7, Mankato 6

The St.Cloud Rox came back and clutched it out, scoring three runs in the ninth to take down the Mankato MoonDogs 7-6. Tanner Recchio (University of St. Thomas) went 2-for-4, including a double, scoring twice with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Joshua Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 3-for-4, including a double, scoring once with one RBI. Tyson Lablanc (Kansas) went 2-for-5, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Tony Lira (University of Arizona) went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Ryan Beaird (Tarleton State University) earned the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit. Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo University) got the save, striking out three of three batters faced.

Waterloo 3, Thunder Bay 2

The Waterloo Bucks came from behind to edge the Thunder Bay Border Cats 3-2. Marcus Heusohn (McNeese State University) went 2-for-4, including a double, scoring once with one RBI. Jimmy Nugent (Lincoln Trail CC) went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and one stolen base. Trey Butler (University of Louisville) went 1-for-2, scoring once with two stolen bases. Juan Reyes (USC UPSTATE UNIVERSITY) earned the win, throwing six innings with two strikeouts, allowing two hits, one run, and one walk. Logan Boenker (Simpson University) got the save, throwing the last inning and striking out two batters.

Bismarck 3, Badlands 2

The Bismarck Larks take down the Badlands Big Sticks 3-2 in a tight contest, scoring the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. Jamie Mullin (Sacramento State University) knocked in the winning run utilizing a pinch-hit opportunity, going 1-for-1 with an RBI double. Sonnier Moses (Prairie View A&M University) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with two stolen bases. Gavyn Schlotterback (Kansas) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Ryker Schow (Brigham Young University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with three stolen bases. Bryce Stockton (Sacramento State University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing one hit. Sebastian Edwards (Sierra CC) got the save, throwing the last inning and striking out two of four batters faced.

Rockford 11, Traverse City 2

The Rockford Rivets exploded for six runs in the sixth and added four more in the eighth to dominate the Traverse City Pit Spitters 11-2. Jackson Forbes (University of Arizona) had a day at the plate going 4-for-5, including a two-run double, recording three RBIs, two stolen bases, and one run. Zeb Allen (University of Central Arkansas) went 3-for-5, scoring once with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Ean Czech (Wabash Valley CC) went 1-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and two stolen bases. Jack Scheri (Wabash Valley CC) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Kaysen Raineri (University of Hawaii) earned the win, throwing seven scoreless innings, five strikeouts, and allowing two hits.

Willmar 8, Minot 5

The Willmar Stingers split the series with the Minot Hot Tots, taking them down 8-5 in game two using a four-run third inning. Landon Franklin (Seminole State (FL) CC) went 2-for-3, including a two-run home run, recording a total of three RBIs and one run. Ryan Tayman (University of California, Berkeley) went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and scored three times. Joey Craig (New Mexico State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple, a double, and scoring twice. Jameson Martin (University of Minnesota) went 3-for-4, including a double, scoring once and stealing one base. Christian Stratis (The Citadel) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Pierce Gritzmaker (Winona State University) earned the win, throwing four innings with five strikeouts, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and two walks. Will Eldridge (Indiana University) got the save, throwing the last inning, striking out two of three batters faced.
