Wausau 12, La Crosse 2

The Wausau Ignite made a powerful statement to kick off their inaugural season, exploding for seven runs in the sixth inning to run-rule the La Crosse Steam 12-2. Mia Johnson (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) had herself a day, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, racking up five RBIs, and scoring three runs. Megan McGinnis (Saint Mary’s University (MN)) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, one being a walk-off double in the sixth, tallying three RBIs and scoring two runs. Hannah Trzinski (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 2-for-3, scoring once with one RBI. Molly Fitzgerald (University of Missouri-KC) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Maren Sauvageau (North Iowa Area CC) earned the win, throwing six innings, allowing eight hits, two walks, and one earned run.
