Friday’s Northwoods League slate featured 3 games. The Madison Night Mares scored the most runs in Northwoods Softball League History. The Mankato Habaneros sweep the doubleheader over the Minot Honeybees.

Mankato 12, Minot 11

The Mankato Habaneros held off a late push from the Minot Honeybees in a high-scoring battle, edging out a 12-11 win. Morgan Honeycutt (St. Cloud State University) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Sailor Hall (Minnesota State University) had a day at the plate going 3-for-4, including a double, recording three RBIs, and two runs. Brooke Holmes (St. Cloud State University) went 3-for-4, scoring three times with one RBI and one stolen base. Cadey Shipman (North Dakota State University) went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs and scored three times. Shayna Myshrall (Niagara University) went 1-for-2 with an RBI double, recording two RBIs, three runs, and one stolen base. Trinity Gregg (University of Jamestown) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Sami Potvin (Iowa State University) earned the win, shutting out the Honeybees, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and giving up one hit. 

Madison 22, Wausau 1

The Madison Night Mares scored the most runs in Northwoods Softball League History, taking down the Wausau Ignite 22-1. Raganne Bennett (University of Michigan) stays red hot with another perfect performance at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs, recording three RBIs, and three runs scored. Makenzie Foster (University of Wisconsin) went 3-for-3 with a double, scoring twice, and driving in one run. Ella Stephenson (University of Michigan) went 2-for-4, including a solo shot and a two-run double. Gretta Grassel (Mississippi State University) went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and scored twice. Taylor Baker (South Dakota State University) earned the win, throwing two innings with two strikeouts, allowing one hit and no earned runs.

Mankato 9, Minot 6

The Mankato Habaneros stormed back with a seven-run sixth inning to stun and sweep the doubleheader over the Minot Honeybees 9-6. Morgan Honeycutt (St. Cloud State University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with three RBIs. Brooke Holmes (St. Cloud State University) went 2-for-3 with a double, collecting two RBIs and two runs scored. Olivia Lenzen (Wofford College) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, scoring twice, and stealing two bases. Shayna Myshrall (Niagara University) went 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI. Sami Potvin (Iowa State University) earned the win, throwing two innings with one strikeout, allowing two walks, one hit, and one run.
