Friday’s Northwoods League slate featured 14 games. The Kenosha Kingfish walk it off to defeat the Royal Oak Leprechauns 5-4. The Traverse City Pit Spitters held off a late rally to edge the Rockford Rivets 8-7 to collect their fourth win in a row.

Madison 15, Wisconsin Rapids 9

The Madison Mallards stunned the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters with an explosive 13-run sixth inning, erasing a six-run deficit to win 15-9. Mikey Bell (Gonzaga University) went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, recording four RBIs and two runs scored. Noah Sheffield (Florida State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run double, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. Cooper Malamazian (Indiana University) went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and scored once. Cole Kosciusko (UC Santa Barbara) went 2-for-2, scoring twice with one RBI. Andre Modugno (University of Alabama) went 1-for-3 with a double and collected three RBIs.  Erik Parker (University of Georgia) went 1-for-6 with three RBIs. Chris Diaz (Marist College) went 3-for-4, scoring three times with one RBI and two stolen bases. Jase Schueller (Lubbock Christian University) earned the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing two hits and one walk.

Traverse City 8, Rockford 7

The Traverse City Pit Spitters held off a late rally to edge the Rockford Rivets 8-7. Hunter Herndon (Wofford College) went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Aaron Piasecki (Central Michigan University) went 3-for-4 with a double, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Brett Rozman (Central Arizona CC) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Tate Shimao (University of Hawaii) went 1-for-4 with a triple, recording one RBI and two runs scored. Nic Mirabella (Maryville College (TN)) earned the win, throwing six innings with eight strikeouts, allowing four hits, three earned runs, and one walk.

Thunder Bay 8, Waterloo 5

The Thunder Bay Border Cats outlasted the Waterloo Bucks 8-5. Kael Babin (University of Nebraska Omaha) went 2-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Lucas Johnson (Eastern Michigan University) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, tallying one RBI and a run scored. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Jake Bechtel (North Carolina State University) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases. George Hansen (U of Wisconsin-Whitewater) earned the win, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing four walks and one hit. Carter Wall (University of Utah) got the save, throwing one inning, striking out three of four batters faced, and giving up one hit.

Green Bay 8, Battle Creek 5

The Green Bay Rockers held off a late surge from the Battle Creek Battle Jacks to win 8-5. Cayden Sheffield (Georgia Tech) went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and an RBI double, recording five RBIs and two runs scored. Parker Martin (University of Southern Indiana) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, scoring once and driving in one run. David Ballenilla (Central Arizona College) went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Ryan Kroepel (Utah Tech University) went 4-for-5, scoring once with one RBI.

Bismarck 15, Willmar 7

The Bismarck Larks erupted for 15 runs on 12 hits to power past the Willmar Stingers 15-7. Ricardo Aponte (Indiana University (PA)) had a day at the plate going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a two-run home run, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. Cristian Bernardini (St. John’s University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with three RBIs. Will Millard (Hillsdale College) went 1-for-3, scoring three times with one RBI. Kyle Hvidsten (Western Kentucky) went 1-for-2, scoring three times with one RBI. Ryan Kramer (College of Wooster) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Matthew Pena (Cal State Northridge) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, one stolen base, and scored three times. Joey Craig (New Mexico State University) went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Cade Sonoqui (Univeristy of the Pacific) earned the win, throwing three innings with two strikeouts, allowing five hits, four runs, and three walks.

Eau Claire 6, Mankato 3

The Eau Claire Express cruised to a 6-3 win over the Mankato MoonDogs, powered by a four-run fifth inning. Jackson Glueck (Pima CC) went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Sam Erickson (Texas A&M University) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with one RBI. Quinton Coats (University of Cincinnati) went 1-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one run. Adam Salazar (Cal State Bakersfield) went 3-for-4, scoring once with one stolen base. Walker Retz (University of St. Thomas (MN)) earned the win, throwing seven scoreless innings with three strikeouts and giving up two walks and one hit.

St. Cloud 7, Minot 3

The St. Cloud Rox rallied late to defeat the Minot Hot Tots 7-3. Dominic Smaldino (University of California) had a day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double, recording two RBIs, two runs scored, and one stolen base. Brady Ballinger (University of Kansas) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and double, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Nolan Geislinger (Iowa Western CC) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with a solo home run. Zach Doyle (UC Irvine) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Matt Toomey (Long Beach State University) went 3-for-4 with one RBI and four stolen bases. JD Dobis (University of Minnesota) earned the win, throwing four innings with six strikeouts, allowing three hits and one earned run.

La Crosse 14, Rochester 5

The La Crosse Loggers dominated at the plate, piling up 24 hits in a 14-5 rout of the Rochester Honkers. Eli Small (University of Kentucky) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, recording three RBIs and one run scored. Brayden Jefferis (University of Michigan) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. RJ Hamilton (Vanderbilt University) went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a solo home run, recording five runs scored and one RBI. Mateo Gray (University of Central Florida) went 5-for-6, collecting a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Eddie Peter (Xavier University) went 1-for-1 with a two-run double. Maddox Haley (Gonzaga University) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Ashton Michek (Augustana University (MN)) earned the win, throwing five innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits, five walks, and two runs.

Fond du Lac 13, Kalamazoo 3

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders exploded for 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 13-3 win over the Kalamazoo Growlers. Matt Hansen (Brigham Young University) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a two-run double and an RBI triple, tallying four RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Patrick Graham (Penn State University) went 2-for-5 with a double, driving in four runs and scoring twice. Thomas Googins (Princeton University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with three RBIs. Matthew Thompson (Kent State University) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Ben Kasten (Madison CC) earned the win, throwing three innings with one strikeout, allowing four walks, one run, and one hit.

Lakeshore 7, Wausau 5

The Lakeshore Chinooks struck early and held on late to defeat the Wausau Woodchucks 7-5. Jacob Kowes (The Master’s University) went 1-for-3 with a two-run double, tallying three RBIs. Tyler Preece (Univeristy of Redlands) went 3-for-4, recording a double, scoring twice, and driving in one run. Beckett Zavorek (Arizona State University) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and scored twice. Max Soliz (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a two-run double. Chance Covert II (University of Texas) earned the win, throwing six innings with five strikeouts, allowing three hits, three runs, and one walk.

Wisconsin Rapids 4, Madison 2

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters take down the Madison Mallards 4-2 in tonight’s tight matchup. Erik Parker (University of Georgia) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Noah Ruiz (Biola University) went 1-for-4 with a double and one stolen base. Noah Sheffield (Florida State University) went 2-for-4, collecting two stolen bases. Kameron Douglas (Alabama State University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk.

Kenosha 5, Royal Oak 4

The Kenosha Kingfish walk it off to defeat the Royal Oak Leprechauns 5-4. James McCoy (University of Kentucky) was the king of clutch, going 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the ninth, recording a total of two RBIs on the night. Aidan Camberg (Santa Barbara City CC) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jack Dauer (Yale University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, recording two RBIs and two runs scored. Tristan Crane (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Dominic Guzman (St. Ambrose) earned the win by throwing one perfect inning.
