Friday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Green Bay Rockers held off a late surge from the Wausau Woodchucks to secure an 8-7 victory, collecting their 6th win in a row. The Traverse City Pit Spitters walked it off in extras to edge out the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3-2.

Fond du Lac 11, Kalamazoo 9

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders jumped out to an early lead and held off a late rally to defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 11-9. Jarren Sanderson (Cal State Northridge) had a day at the plate going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, tallying four RBIs and three runs scored. TP Wentworth (Clemson University) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Jonathan Fitz (University of San Diego) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Gabe Springer (Stanford University) went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in three runs. Noah Coy (University of Notre Dame) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs. Hudson Johnson (University of Cincinnati) earned the win, throwing 3.1 innings with four strikeouts, allowing four walks, one hit, and one run. Luke Parise (Saint Joseph’s University) got the save, throwing one inning with two strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit.

Royal Oak 11, Rockford 2

The Royal Oak Leprechauns dominated from the start, cruising past the Rockford Rivets 11-2. Devan Zirwas (Eastern Michigan University) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, recording one RBI and two runs scored. Dylan Larkins (Georgetown University) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Max Orozco (Oakland University) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Jack Dauer (Yale University) went 3-for-5, scoring twice with one RBI. Tristan Crane (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 3-for-5, scoring once with one RBI. Gabe Jones (Ball State University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless no-hit innings with one strikeout, allowing one walk.

Thunder Bay 6, Mankato 3

The Thunder Bay Border Cats capitalized early and held off the Mankato MoonDogs to win 6-3. Jordan Bach (University of Kansas) went 2-for-2, scoring twice with one RBI. Camden Tanner (University of Arkansas-Monticello) went 1-for-4, scoring three times with one stolen base. Lucas Johnson (Eastern Michigan University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Jackson Irwin (Bellarmine University (KY)) earned the win, throwing 3.1 innings with one strikeout, allowing four walks, three hits, and two runs. George Hansen (U of Wisconsin-Whitewater) got the save, throwing 3.1 perfect innings, striking out five of ten batters faced.

Parker Martin (University of Southern Indiana) went 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Brody Sexton (Grand Canyon University) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Dylan Schlotterback (Paris JC) went 1-for-4 with a double, tallying three RBIs. Avery Duncan (Dallas Baptist University) earned the win, throwing 2.2 innings with three strikeouts, allowing four walks, four runs, and one hit. Tomas Lopez (Columbia University) got the save, throwing three scoreless innings, allowing four walks and two hits.

Madison 10, Lakeshore 6

The Madison Mallards erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning to storm past the Lakeshore Chinooks 10-6. Davis Hamilton (University of Minnesota) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Cole Kosicusko (UC Santa Barbara) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and scored twice. Brock Lulewicz (Wichita State University) went 1-for-4 with a bases-clearing double. Nate Voss (Penn State University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Nate Gray (Pima CC) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Jack Kleveno (University of Utah) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Max Winders (Western Kentucky) earned the win, throwing 3.2 innings with six strikeouts, allowing two hits, two runs, and one walk.

Battle Creek 12, Kenosha 5

The Battle Creek Battle Jacks erupted for 9 runs over the final three innings to pull away from the Kenosha Kingfish, winning 12-5. Caleb Estrada (Grand Valley State University) went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double, tallying two RBIs, three runs scored, and one stolen base. Halen Otte (Whitman College) went 1-for-1 with a solo home run. Sam Griffith (Oakland University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Ryan Skjonsby (Washington State University) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. James McCoy (University of Kentucky) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Hogan Denny (Indiana University) went 1-for-3 with a double, tallying two RBIs and one stolen base. Austin Wolfe (Bushnell University) earned the win, throwing six innings with one strikeout, allowing three hits, two runs, and two walks.

Rochester 5, Waterloo 2

Backed by 12 hits, the Rochester Honkers take down the Waterloo Bucks 5-2. Joel Roberts (St. Mary’s College (CA)) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Payton Knowles (Gonzaga University) went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring twice, and driving in one run. Tommy Eisenstat (Gonzaga University) went 2-for-3, scoring once with one RBI. Ian Halverson (Saint Louis University) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Hayden Mullins (Montana State University Billings) earned the win, throwing seven innings with six strikeouts, allowing three walks, two runs, and two hits. Ryan Higgins (Los Angeles Valley CC) got the save, throwing two perfect innings, striking out three of six batters faced.

Willmar 5, La Crosse 1

The Willmar Stingers took control and defeated the La Crosse Loggers 5-1. Kobe Eikmeier went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Cody Nitowitz (University of Portland) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases. Armani Guzman (West Virginia University) went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Hunter Possehl (Florida Gulf Coast University) earned the win, throwing four innings with four strikeouts, allowing two walks, two hits, and one run. Dylan Driessen (South Dakota State University) had a dominating outing, throwing four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk.

Eau Claire 8, Duluth 2

The Eau Claire Express used a four-run fifth inning to help seal the win, defeating the Duluth Huskies 8-2. Marcelino Alonso (Madison College) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Quinton Coats (University of Cincinnati) went 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once, and driving in one run. Ian Guanzon (East Tennessee State) went 1-for-3 with a double, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Matthew Cormier (Cal State Northridge) recorded three RBIs. Walker Retz (University of St. Thomas (MN)) earned the win, throwing six innings with five strikeouts, allowing four hits, one run, and one walk.

Minot 10, Badlands 7

The Minot Hot Tots exploded for seven runs in the first two innings and held off a late surge to defeat the Badlands Big Sticks 10-7. Charlie Kalbrener (Iowa Western CC) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Will Smoot (East Tennessee State University) went 1-for-3 with a double, tallying three RBIs. Matt Toomey (Long Beach State University) went 3-for-5 with a double, recording one RBI and one run scored. Connor Massimini (East Texas Baptist University) went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and scored twice. Troy Berg (Augustana University (MN)) went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run. Braden Booth (Mississippi State University) earned the win, throwing five innings with three strikeouts, allowing five hits, five runs, and two walks.

Traverse City 3, Wisconsin Rapids 2

The Traverse City Pit Spitters walked it off in extras to edge out the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3-2. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) came in clutch with the walk-off knock and went 2-for-5, including a triple, with one RBI and one run scored. Grady Mee (Western Michigan University) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and one stolen base. Ashton Zacher (Southern Nevada CC) went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Drew Ferguson (Kellogg CC) earned the win, throwing one perfect inning with one strikeout.

Bismarck 3, St. Cloud 0

The Bismarck Larks shut out the St. Cloud Rox 3-0. Kyle Hvidsten (Western Kentucky) went 2-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI. Cade Sonoqui (Univeristy of the Pacific) earned the win, throwing one perfect inning with one strikeout. Mike Debattista (University of Texas, San Antonio) got the save, throwing one scoreless no-hit inning, striking out three of five batters faced, and allowing two walks.
