Sunday’s Northwoods League slate featured 11 games. The La Crosse Loggers edged out the Badlands Big Sticks 5-4, plating the go-ahead run in the ninth to secure the victory.

Lakeshore 8, Kalamazoo 7

The Lakeshore Chinooks walked it off in thrilling fashion, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to edge out the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-7. Tyler Preece (Univeristy of Redlands) went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Grant Gray (UCLA) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. David Hogg (Louisiana State University) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs, scoring twice, and stealing one base. Micah Pienstra-Kiracofe (Kent State University) went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Brodey Acres (Walsh University) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Nate Gray (Pima CC) earned the win, throwing two innings, allowing six hits, six runs, and four walks.

Wausau 9, Kenosha 8

The Wausau Woodchucks fended off a late rally from the Kenosha Kingfish, walking it off to win 9-8. Max Soliz (University of Kansas) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Dom Rodriguez (University of Arizona) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with one stolen base. Kyle Schupmann (University of Illinois) went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, one RBI, and two runs scored. Hogan Denny (Indiana University) went 2-for-2, scoring twice with one RBI and two stolen bases. J.J. Dutton (Morehead State University) went 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once, driving in two runs, and stealing one base. Ethan Jerzierski (Angelina CC) earned the win, striking out the only batter faced.

Duluth 7, Eau Claire 1

The Duluth Huskies controlled the game from start to finish, defeating the Eau Claire Express 7-1. Ethan Surowiec (University of Mississippi) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and one run scored. Kingsley Guthrie (Murray State University) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and one stolen base. Michael Smith (Prairie View A&M University) went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring twice, and stealing one base. Owen Marsolek (Western Kentucky) earned the win, throwing four innings with four strikeouts, allowing two hits, two walks, and one run.

Traverse City 11, Battle Creek 9

The Traverse City Pit Spitters stormed back with a six-run sixth inning to edge out the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 11-9. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) went 3-for-5 with a bases-clearing triple, driving in four runs and scoring once. Brett Rozman (Central Arizona CC) went 1-for-4 with a two-run triple, tallying three RBIs and one run scored. Trent Rice (Oakland University) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a three-run triple and a double, recording three RBIs and one run scored. Ryan Skjonsby (Washington State University) went 3-for-5, including a double, driving in one run, and scoring twice. Drew Ferguson (Kellogg CC) earned the win, throwing 1.1 innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

Thunder Bay 12, Waterloo 3

The Thunder Bay Border Cats exploded for 12 combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings to surge past the Waterloo Bucks 12-3. Jordan Bach (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double, driving in three runs, scoring once, and stealing one base. Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University (MD)) went 1-for-4 with a two-run double and scored once. Ty Hamilton (Florida SouthWestern St. College) went 1-for-4 with an RBI double, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Owen Ross (USC – Upstate) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Carter Wall (University of Utah) earned the win, throwing three innings with five strikeouts, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run.

Bismarck 15, Minot 1

The Bismarck Larks exploded for eight runs over the final two innings to dominate the Minot Hot Tots 15-1. Sydney Ward (Univeristy of New Mexico) went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a bases-clearing triple, tallying six RBIs and one run scored. Erick Dessens (Paradise Valley CC) went 4-for-5 with a double, driving in four runs and scoring twice. Dasan Harris (University of Oklahoma) went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Kyle Hvidsten (Western Kentucky) went 1-for-4, scoring four times with one RBI. Lake Hagen (Dakota County Tech CC) earned the win by throwing five innings with two strikeouts, allowing two hits and zero earned runs. Cade Sonoqui (Univeristy of the Pacific) got the save, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts, allowing three hits.

Royal Oak 14, Rockford 2

The Royal Oak Leprechauns cruised past the Rockford Rivets 14-2. Aidan Schuck (Oakland University) went 2-for-4, scoring three times with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Max Orozco (Oakland University) went 2-for-6, scoring twice with four RBIs and one stolen base. Justin Brown (University of Michigan) earned the win, throwing five innings with seven strikeouts, allowing four hits and one earned run.

St. Cloud 16, Rochester 8

The St. Cloud Rox rallied for 12 runs over the final three innings to surge past the Rochester Honkers 16-8. Ethan Gibson (Virginia Tech) went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Nolan Geislinger (Iowa Western CC) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, driving in two runs and scoring three times. Augusto Mungarrieta (University of Kansas) went 1-for-6 with a grand slam. Dominic Smaldino (Arizona State University) went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles, driving in four RBIs and stealing one base. Joel Roberts (St. Mary’s College (CA)) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, tallying three RBIs. Maddox Haley (Gonzaga University) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Tommy Eisenstat (Gonzaga University) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Carter Mick (University of Nebraska Omaha) earned the win, throwing four innings with three strikeouts, allowing two hits and one run.

The La Crosse Loggers edged out the Badlands Big Sticks 5-4, plating the go-ahead run in the ninth to secure the victory. Xander McLaurin (Cal Poly University) went 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI. Ethan Edinger (University of Louisville) went 1-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI. Gavyn Schlotterback (Kansas) went 3-for-3, scoring once and stealing one base. Chayton Fischer (UT-RGV) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, tallying two RBIs. Jack Mount (Wichita State University) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing four walks and two hits.

Mankato 9, Willmar 6

The Mankato MoonDogs rallied late, scoring nice runs over the final two innings to stun the Willmar Stingers 9-6. Collin Jennings (University of Illinois) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, scoring once, and driving in three runs. Adrian Beltre Jr. (University of San Diego) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with one RBI. Anthony Avalos (University of Houston) went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base. Sam Hunt (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, driving in three runs. Matthew Pena (Cal State Northridge) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Tanner Shumski (Minnesota State University) earned the win, throwing two innings with one strikeout, allowing three hits, one earned run, and one walk.

Mankato 6, Willmar 2

The Mankato MoonDogs used a big fourth inning to take control and held off a late push from the Willmar Stinger to secure a 6-2 win. Sean Griggs (University of Alabama) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Connor Cuff (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Logan Feeney (Gustavus Adolphus College) earned the win, throwing 6.1 innings with five strikeouts, allowing five walks, three hits, and two runs.
