Monday’s Northwoods League slate featured 14 games. The Traverse City Pit Spitters secure their playoff spot, taking down the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 5-3.

Wausau 7, Kenosha 4

The Wausau Woodchucks rallied from an early deficit to take down the Kenosha Kingfish 7-4. Max Soliz (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Noah Malone (Loyola Marymount University) went 3-for-5 with a double, scoring twice, and driving in two runs. James McCoy (University of Kentucky) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Hogan Denny (Indiana University) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run. Keagen Jirschele (South Dakota State University) earned the win, throwing 2.1 innings, allowing four hits, two walks, and one run.

Wisconsin Rapids 12, Madison 9

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters held off a late push from the Madison Mallards to secure a 12-9 victory. Madden Ocko (Fordham University) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring twice with two RBIs. Hiroto Kobayashi (Lewis-Clark State College) went 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing double, recording four RBIs and one run scored. Mason Onate (Pensacola State College) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, tallying one RBI, two runs scored, and one stolen base. Mikey Bell (Gonzaga University) went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and an RBI double, collecting four RBIs and two runs scored. Michael Lippe (University of Louisville) went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and a double, recording two RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Noah Sheffield (Florida State University) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Anthony Mateo (Alabama A&M University) earned the win, throwing one inning with one strikeout, allowing three hits and two runs.

Willmar 5, Mankato 4

The Willmar Stingers pull off a 5-4 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs. Matthew Pena (Cal State Northridge) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Carter Walsh (Northwest Nazarene University) went 2-for-3 with a double, scoring twice. Adrian Beltre Jr. (University of San Diego) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Caleb Koskie (Indiana University) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Benjamin Irsfeld (Minnesota State University) earned the win, throwing four innings with four strikeouts, allowing six hits, one run, and one walk.

Royal Oak 9, Rockford 6

The Royal Oak Leprechauns outlasted the Rockford Rivets 9-6 behind a 12-hit performance. Aidan Schuck (Oakland University) went 1-for-3, scoring twice with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Nolan Alvord (Grand Valley State University) went 3-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs. Ryan Tyranski (University of Cincinnati) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Cade Climie (Houston) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, tallying four RBIs. Ty Waid (McLennan CC) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Gavin Moczydlowsky (Michigan State University) earned the win, throwing 2.2 innings with three strikeouts, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run. Fischer Hendershot (Eastern Michigan University) got the save, throwing two scoreless no-hit innings, striking out four of seven batters faced, allowing one walk.

Wisconsin Rapids 3, Madison 1

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters edged out the Madison Mallards 3-1 in a tightly contested matchup. J.J. Garcia (El Paso CC) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, recording two RBIs and one run scored. Pat Costin (Indiana University) went 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Alejandro Morales (Cal State LA) earned the win, throwing one scoreless inning with two strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk. Kameron Douglas (Alabama State University) got the save, throwing one inning with two strikeouts, allowing one hit.

Lakeshore 3, Kalamazoo 1

The Lakeshore Chinooks capitalized late to defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 3-1. Drew Reynolds (University of Maine) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run. Grant Gray (UCLA) went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple. Brodey Acres (Walsh University) went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. KJ White (Southern University) went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Koehn Thomas (Santa Barbara City CC) earned the win, throwing 2.1 innings with one strikeout, allowing three walks, two hits, and one run.

Green Bay 12, Fond du Lac 7

The Green Bay Rockers secure their eighth win in a row, taking down the  Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 12-7. Caleb Daniel (Georgia Tech) went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, scored three times, and stole one base. Max Humphrey (Kent State University) went 1-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Parker Martin (University of Southern Indiana) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and scored twice. Patrick Graham (Penn State University) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, tallying three RBIs. Landon Mensik (Xavier University) went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run. James Hankerson Jr. (Florida State University) went 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Alex LePage (Immaculata University) earned the win, throwing 3.2 innings with four strikeouts, allowing three hits, two runs, and one walk.

Duluth 9, Eau Claire 7

The Duluth Huskies jumped out early and defeated the Eau Claire Express 9-7. Zan Von Schlegell (University of St. Thomas (MN)) went 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once, driving in one run, and stealing one base. Ethan Surowiec (University of Mississippi) went 2-for-4 with a double, recording two RBIs and one run scored. Tommy Farmer (UC Irvine) went 1-for-3, scoring three times with one RBI and one stolen base. Matthew Foley (Galveston CC) earned the win, throwing 0.1 of an inning, allowing one walk. Simon Murray (Arkansas Tech University) got the save, throwing one inning with two strikeouts, allowing two hits, one run, and one walk.

St. Cloud 10, Rochester 4

The St. Cloud Rox struck early and never looked back, scoring eight runs in the first four innings to cruise past the Rochester Honkers 10-4. Brenden Stressler (University of Michigan) went 2-for-5 with a double, recording three RBIs and one run scored. Matthew Maulik (Univeristy of St. Thomas) went 1-for-1, scoring twice with one RBI. Joel Roberts (St. Mary’s College (CA)) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Kai Caranto (California Lutheran University) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double, scoring twice. Riane Ritter (University of St. Thomas) earned the win, throwing 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts, allowing five hits, three runs, and two walks.

Minot 8, Bismarck 4

The Minot Hot Tots rallied behind a 12-hit performance to take down the Bismarck Larks 8-4. Henry Allen (University of Georgia) went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run, recording three RBIs and one run scored. Ryan Castro (UC Irvine) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Matt Toomey (Long Beach State University) went 2-for-4, scoring twice and tallying a triple and two stolen bases. Jayder Raifstanger (St. John’s University) went 3-for-3 with a double. Carson Luna (University of Texas) went 2-for-3 with a double, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Kahler Key (St. Cloud State University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing five walks and one hit. Pavlos Piperakis (Troy University) got the save, throwing 2.1 innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits and one run.

Badlands 11, La Crosse 0

The Badlands Big Sticks broke a scoreless tie in the sixth and erupted to shut out the La Crosse Loggers 11-0. Troy Berg (Augustana University (MN)) went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Chayton Fischer (UT-RGV) went 1-for-5 with a double, tallying two RBIs and one run scored. Zach Gingrich (Texas State University) went 2-for-2 with a double, scoring once and stealing one base. Adam Wade (Alvin CC) earned the win, throwing one scoreless no-hit inning with one strikeout, allowing one walk. Braylen Timmins (Texas State University) got the save, throwing two scoreless innings with five strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk. Dylan Kerbow (Texas State University) had a dominant start, throwing five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks. 

Traverse City 5, Battle Creek 3

Adam Broski (Michigan State University) went 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Brett Rozman (Central Arizona CC) went 1-for-3, scoring once with one RBI and one stolen base. Sam Kane (Seattle University) went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run. Nic Mirabella (Maryville College (TN)) earned the win, throwing six innings with four strikeouts, allowing two hits and one walk.

Waterloo 14, Thunder Bay 0

The Waterloo Bucks dominated from start to finish, shutting out the Thunder Bay Border Cats 14-0. Luca Periello (Virginia Tech) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Larry Edwards (McNeese State University) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, driving in two runs and scoring once. Jake Bechtel (North Carolina State University) went 3-for-5 with a double, scoring three times, driving in three runs, and stealing one base. Brandon Rice (Mount St. Mary’s University (MD)) earned the win, throwing three scoreless innings, allowing two strikeouts allowing three walks, and one hit.

Willmar 15, Mankato 2

The Willmar Stingers secured the doubleheader sweep, beating the Mankato MoonDogs 15-2. Sam Hunt (University of Minnesota) had a day at the plate going 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and a double, recording five RBIs and three runs scored. Brock Larsen (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 1-for-3 with a grand slam. Ryan Tayman (Cal Poly University) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Cody Wichmann (SW Minnesota State University) earned the win, throwing four innings with three strikeouts, allowing three hits and three walks.
