Tuesday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Wausau Woodchucks walked it off in the ninth to edge out the Kalamazoo Growlers 7-6.

Thunder Bay 15, Waterloo 5

The Thunder Bay Border Cats exploded over the final five innings to take down the Waterloo Bucks 15-5. Camden Tanner (University of Arkansas-Monticello) went 2-for-3 with a bases-clearing triple, tallying three RBIs, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Manny Alberto (Western Kentucky University) was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring four times with a two-run triple and two stolen bases. Hayden Stringfellow (Bossier Parish CC (LA)) went 1-for-3 with a two-run double, tallying four RBIs. Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State University (CA)) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double, scoring three times. Will Humphrey (Western Illinois University) earned the win, throwing 2.1 scoreless no-hit innings with two strikeouts, allowing one walk.

Traverse City 3, Royal Oak 1

The Traverse City Pit Spitters edged out the Royal Oak Leprechauns 3-1. Brandon Sanchez (University of Northern Colorado) went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and one stolen base. Nathanael Coupet (Georgia Tech) went 1-for-2 with a double and scored once. Charlie Horne (Wofford College) earned the win, throwing three scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing two hits and two walks. Charlie Wolf (Princeton University) got the save, throwing one scoreless no-hit inning, striking out two of five batters faced, and giving up one walk.

Madison 9, Battle Creek 3

The Madison Mallards erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning to storm past the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 9-3. Carson Hansen (University of Kentucky) went 2-for-3 with a double, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Cole Kosciusko (UC Santa Barbara) went 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once, and driving in one run. Jordy Lopez (University of California, Berkeley) went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Taylor Penn (Western Kentucky) earned the win, throwing one perfect inning, striking out two of three batters faced.

Mankato 6, Badlands 5

The Mankato MoonDogs rallied late with a four-run seventh inning to edge out the Badlands Big Sticks 6-5. Corey Nunez (UC Santa Barbara) went 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once, and driving in one run. Sean Griggs (University of Alabama) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Caleb Koskie (Indiana University) went 2-for-4, scoring once with one RBI. Jacob Dilley (UNC-Greensboro) went 1-for-2 with a triple, one RBI, and one run scored. Robby Bolin (Kansas State University) went 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and stealing one base. Tate Marland (Cedarville University) earned the win, throwing six innings with four strikeouts, allowing five hits and two earned runs. Ian Culver (University of Utah) got the save, throwing 1.2 scoreless no-hit innings with one strikeout, allowing one walk.

St. Cloud 10, Minot 0

The St. Cloud Rox dominated from start to finish, shutting out the Minot Hot Tots 10-0. Sawyer Smith (University of Kansas) went 3-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs, scoring once, and stealing one base. Joshua Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) went 2-for-3 with a double, tallying one RBI, three runs scored, and one stolen base. Tyson Lablanc (Louisiana State – Eunice) went 3-for-4, scoring three times, driving in two runs, and stealing one base. Dominic Smaldino (Arizona State University) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Hunter Day (Minnesota State University) earned the win, throwing eight scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, allowing four hits and two walks.

Eau Claire 6, Rochester 0

The Eau Claire Express blanked the Rochester Honkers 6-0. Quinton Coats (University of Cincinnati) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. McGwire Turner (University of Montevallo) went 2-for-3, scoring once with three RBIs. Max Arlich (Arizona State University) earned the win, throwing six scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits and two walks.

Willmar 5, Bismarck 0

The Willmar Stingers shut out the Bismarck Larks 5-0 behind a dominant pitching performance. Merrick Rapoza (Florida Gulf Coast University) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Sam Hunt (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. Porter Buursema (Georgia Tech) earned the win, throwing 5 scoreless no-hit innings with eleven strikeouts, allowing three walks. 

Wausau 7, Kalamazoo 6

The Wausau Woodchucks walked it off in the ninth to edge out the Kalamazoo Growlers 7-6. Dom Rodriguez (University of Arizona) came in clutch with the walk-off knock, going 4-for-5 on the night with an RBI single and a solo home run, scoring twice. Dylan Schlotterback (Paris JC) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run. Matthew Thompson (Kent State University) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Landon Sexton (USC Upstate) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and giving up just one hit.

Fond du Lac 3, Wisconsin Rapids 1

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3-1 in a low-scoring battle. Landon Mensik (Xavier University) went 1-for-1 with a double, drawing two walks, and scoring once. James Hankerson Jr. (Florida State University) went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Junior Barajas (Saddleback CC) went 1-for-4 with a double, driving in one run, and stealing one base. Noah Wech (Oklahoma State University) earned the win, throwing seven innings, collecting twelve strikeouts, allowing two hits, one walk, and zero earned runs. Luke Parise (Saint Joseph’s University) got the save, throwing two scoreless no-hit innings with two strikeouts, allowing two walks.

Rockford 6, Kenosha 4

The Rockford Rivets struck early and held on late to defeat the Kenosha Kingfish 6-4. Gavin Taylor (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Connor Cunningham (Murray State University) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Tommy Townsend (Butler University) went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice. James McCoy (University of Kentucky) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, scoring twice, and stealing one base. Hawk Bowers (McLennan CC) earned the win, throwing five innings with three strikeouts, allowing five hits, three runs, and three walks.

Duluth 5, La Crosse 4

The Duluth Huskies jumped out early and held off a late push to edge out the La Crosse Loggers 5-4. Ethan Surowiec (University of Mississippi) went 4-for-5 with a double, tallying two RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base. Noah Furcht (Ohio State) went 1-for-2, scoring once with one RBI and two stolen bases. Tommy Farmer (UC Irvine) went 1-for-3, scoring three times with two stolen bases. Rowan Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases. Eddie Peters (Xavier University) went 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once, driving in one run, and stealing a base. Brayden Jefferis (University of Michigan) went 2-for-3, scoring once with one RBI. Evan Rolison (Oklahoma College-Tonkawa) earned the win, throwing six innings with five strikeouts, allowing four hits, two walks, and one earned run.

Green Bay 3, Lakeshore 2

The Green Bay Rockers scored late to take down the Lakeshore Chinooks 3-2. Eric Jeon (Stanford University) went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Caleb Daniel (Georgia Tech) went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Beckett Zavorek (Arizona State University) went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base. Jesse Aguirre (Mesa CC) went 2-for-4 with a triple and scored twice. Cole Linton (Cloud County CC) went two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, allowing two hits and one walk.
