Monday’s Northwoods League slate featured 13 games. The Duluth Huskies completed a dominant doubleheader sweep over the Badlands Big Sticks, taking Game 1 with an explosive 11-3 win and following it up with a 5-2 victory in Game 2. Willmar walks it off to extend its win streak to four.

Duluth 11, Badlands 3

The Duluth Huskies jumped out early and never let up to cruise past the Badlands Big Sticks 11-3. Reagan Reeder (Evansville) went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, recording four RBIs and two runs scored. Kade Thompson (University of Arizona) went 2-for-3 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Nate Vargas (UC Santa Barbara) went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in one run. Sean Waits (McLennan CC) earned the win, throwing six scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks. 

Kalamazoo 14, Rockford 3

The Kalamazoo Growlers came out swinging, scoring eight runs in the first two innings and defeating the Rockford Rivets 14-3. Antonio Perrotta (University of Virginia) went 4-for-6, scoring once, tallying five RBIs. Jayce Lee (University of Notre Dame) went 3-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs, scoring four times, and stealing one base. Gabe Springer (Stanford University) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run. Nolan Belcher (University of Kentucky) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Evan Holewinski (Kent State University) earned the win, throwing 7.2 innings with seven strikeouts, allowing six hits, one earned run, and one walk.

Royal Oak 7, Battle Creek 5

The Royal Oak Leprechauns held off a late surge from the Battle Creek Battle Jacks, scoring three crucial runs in the ninth to secure a 7-5 victory. Danny Cook (Pepperdine University) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs and one stolen base. Aidan Schuck (Oakland University) went 1-for-3 with a double, driving in one run and scoring once. Ryan Kroepel (Utah Tech University) went 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, tallying one RBI and one run scored. Nathan Ball (Central Michigan University) went 3-for-5 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring once. Brody Fahnestock (Oakland University) earned the win, throwing three innings with three strikeouts, allowing four hits, one run, and one walk.

Willmar 7, Mankato 5

The Willmar Stingers walked it off with a three-run ninth inning to complete a comeback win over the Mankato MoonDogs 7-5. Liam Bushey (Western Illinois University) came in clutch with a walk-off three-run home run, going 2-for-5 on the night and scoring twice. Sam Hunt (University of Minnesota) went 3-for-4 with a double, driving in one run and scoring once. Armani Guzman (West Virginia University) went 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring once. Cannon Peery (Grand Canyon University) went 2-for-3 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring once. Wesley Marien (Northwestern State University) earned the win, throwing one inning with two strikeouts, allowing one walk and one run.

Minot 12, Rochester 3

The Minot Hot Tots came out swinging with a five-run first inning and cruised to a 12-3 victory over the Rochester Honkers. Christian Stratis (The Citadel) went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and scored twice. Max Ortega (Cal State Fullerton) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double, scoring three runs. Rowan Felsch (UC Irvine) went 2-for-3, scoring three times with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Camden Dimidjian (University of Southern Indiana) earned the win, throwing six innings with one strikeout, allowing five hits, three walks, and two earned runs. Josh Livengood (Centre College) got the save, throwing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks.

Eau Claire 8, Thunder Bay 5

The Eau Claire Express used a five-run second inning to jump ahead and held off a late push to defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 8-5. Alex Hendrickson (University of St. Thomas) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in three runs, scoring once, and stealing one base. Nick Mascaro (Cal State Bakersfield) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and one stolen base. Devon Smith (Montreat College (NC)) went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and scored twice. Max Arlich (Arizona State University) earned the win, throwing six innings with six strikeouts, allowing seven hits, four runs, and two walks. Kenneth Fistler (Alma College) got the save, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing two hits.

Waterloo 8, La Crosse 4

The Waterloo Bucks surged ahead with a three-run seventh inning to complete the comeback and defeat the La Crosse Loggers 8-4. Jimmy Nugent (Lincoln Trail CC) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, driving in three runs and scoring once. Jake Bechtel (North Carolina State University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs. Cole Smith (Northern Illinois University) went 2-for-5, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Kanon Sundgren (University of Nebraska) went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Kole Bradley (Eastern Illinois University) earned the win, throwing one inning, allowing two hits, two walks, and one earned run. Brandon Rice (Mount St. Mary’s University (MD)) got the save, throwing three scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing three hits and one walk.

St. Cloud 5, Bismarck 2

The St. Cloud Rox struck early and added insurance late to secure a 5-2 win over the Bismarck Larks. Tyson Leblanc (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double. Augusto Mungarrieta (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Sydney Ward (Univeristy of New Mexico) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Hunter Day (Minnesota State University) earned the win, throwing seven innings with four strikeouts, allowing eight hits, two runs, and two walks. Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo University) got the save, throwing one perfect inning, striking out two of four batters faced.

Lakeshore 6, Madison 1

The Lakeshore Chinooks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Madison Mallards 6-1. Brody Rasmussen (University of Maine) went 2-for-5 with a triple, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Grant Gray (UCLA) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Nate Gray (Pima CC) earned the win, throwing six innings with three strikeouts, allowing three hits, one run, and one walk.

Green Bay 2, Fond du Lac 1

The Green Bay Rockers scratched across single runs in the first and seventh to edge out the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 2-1. McClane Helton (University of Houston) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Jaron Cotton (University of Nebraska) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. KJ Ward (Park University-Gilbert) earned the win, throwing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts, allowing two hits.

Wausau 10, Wisconsin Rapids 1

The Wausau Woodchucks jumped ahead early and kept piling on to defeat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 10-1. Max Soliz (University of Kansas) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and an RBI double, tallying three RBIs and two runs scored. Max Galvin (University of Miami (FL)) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an RBI double, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Nolan Bernard (University of South Florida) earned the win, throwing six innings with seven strikeouts, allowing six hits, three walks, and one run.

Kenosha 4, Traverse City 3

The Kenosha Kingfish outlasted the Traverse City Pit Spitters 4-3 in a 13-inning marathon, walking it off in a thrilling extra-inning victory. Dominic Kibler (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) went 2-for-4 with a double. Hogan Denny (Indiana University) went 1-for-5 with one RBI. Jadan Boyce (Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa CC) went 1-for-5 with a double, scoring once and stealing one base. Grady Mee (Western Michigan University) went 2-for-6 with a double, driving in one run, scoring once, and stealing one base. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State University) went 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI. Alex Day (Northern Illinois University) earned the win, throwing two innings with one strikeout, allowing two walks and one hit.

Duluth 5, Badlands 2

The Duluth Huskies took control in the fourth and held steady late to defeat the Badlands Big Sticks 5-2. Paul Gutierrez Contreras (Cal State Fullerton) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Kingsley Guthrie (Murray State University) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Rene Galvan (UT Rio Grande Valley) went 1-for-2 with a double and scored once. Charlie Dohemann (UC Riverside) earned the win, throwing three innings with two strikeouts, allowing two hits, two runs, and two walks. Jackson Smith (Central Michigan University) got the save, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk.
