Friday’s Northwoods League slate featured 11 games. The Wausau Woodchucks pulled off a dramatic comeback, scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth to stun the Lakeshore Chinooks 8-7.

Rockford 18, Royal Oak 3

The Rockford Rivets exploded for eight runs in the third inning and never looked back, cruising to an 18-3 win over the Royal Oak Leprechauns. Harrison Bowman (Troy University) was an RBI machine, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, driving in five runs, and scoring twice. Collin Taylor (Los Angeles Valley CC) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, recording three RBIs and two runs scored. Ny’zaiah Thompson (Modesto CC) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and scored four runs. Jackson Forbes (University of Arizona) went 2-for-3 with a double, tallying two RBIs and one run scored. Andrew Alberts (Manhattan College) earned the win, throwing six innings with four strikeouts, allowing four walks, three hits, and zero earned runs.

Kalamazoo 9, Kenosha 2

The Kalamazoo Growlers took control early and never let up, defeating the Kenosha Kingfish 9-2. Jayce Lee (University of Notre Dame) went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run. Trevor Johnson (Duke University) went 1-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice. KJ White (Southern University) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, scoring once, tallying one RBI, and stealing two bases. Hogan Denny (Indiana University) went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and two stolen bases. Rocco Bernadina (Kent State University) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit.

Duluth 10, La Crosse 9

The Duluth Huskies rallied with an explosive eight-run sixth inning to edge the La Crosse Loggers 10-9. Nate Vargas (UC Santa Barbara) went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, recording three RBIs, three runs scored, and one stolen base. Noah Furcht (Ohio State University) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double, scoring twice, and stealing one base. Carson Ohland (Grand Canyon University) went 2-for-2, scoring once with three RBIs. Nick Terhaar (University of Iowa) earned the win, throwing one inning, giving up three hits, two runs, and one walk. Danny Hesse (Mesa CC) got the save, throwing one scoreless inning, striking out two of four batters faced, allowing one hit.

Green Bay 5, Fond du Lac 3

The Green Bay Rockers plated two in the ninth to seal the comeback win to defeat the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 5-3. Stefan Di Corrado (Dartmouth College) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one stolen base. Jonathan Fitz (University of San Diego) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run. Luke Higgins (Cal State San Marcos) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing two hits and one walk. Avery Duncan (Dallas Baptist University) got the save, throwing one scoreless no-hit inning with one strikeout, allowing two walks.

Waterloo 15, Eau Claire 4

The Waterloo Bucks erupted for eight runs in the seventh inning to power past the Eau Claire Express 15-4. Jimmy Nugent (Lincoln Trail CC) went 2-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs and scoring once. Cole Smith (Northern Illinois University) went 1-for-2, scoring twice with three RBIs and one stolen base. Larry Edwards (McNeese State University) went 1-for-2, scoring twice with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Parker Sweeney (Virginia Tech) went 1-for-2, scoring once with three RBIs. Aidan Elfering (University of Dubuque) earned the win, throwing seven innings with three strikeouts, allowing nine hits, three runs, and one walk.

Rochester 8, Thunder Bay 0

The Rochester Honkers shut out the Thunder Bay Border Cats 8-0. Luke Stulga (Illinois State University) tallied four RBIs and scored twice. Miguel Cantu (Missouri Western State University) went 2-for-2 with a double, recording one RBI. Payton Knowles (Gonzaga University) went 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Jake Jackson (San Diego State University) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two stolen bases. Zack Serup (Ventura CC) earned the win, throwing 5.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks.

Madison 18, Wisconsin Rapids 0

The Madison Mallards dominated from start to finish, shutting out the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 18-0. Cole Kosciusko (UC Santa Barbara) went 3-for-5, scoring twice, tallying three RBIs, and stealing one base. Davis Hamilton (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-2, scoring three times, driving in two runs, and stealing two bases. Frankie Carney (UC Irvine) went 3-for-5, scoring once with three RBIs and one stolen base. Michael Lippe (University of Minnesota) went 2-for-5, scoring three times, recording two RBIs, and stealing one base. Eamon Mulhern (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing two walks and one hit.

Wausau 8, Lakeshore 7

The Wausau Woodchucks pulled off a dramatic comeback, scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth to stun the Lakeshore Chinooks 8-7. Cade Baldridge (University of Kansas) came in clutch with the walk-off knock, going 2-for-5 and recording one RBI. Josh Arquette (Panola CC) went 2-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Sam Meidenbauer (UW-Platteville) went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run. Broc Parmer (University of Texas, San Antonio) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and scored twice. Owen Deshazo (Boston College) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Esteban Garcia (Boston College) went 2-for-4 with a double, recording one RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Connor Hill (Central Florida CC) earned the win, throwing 1.1 innings with three strikeouts, allowing three runs and two hits. Tyson Potts (Wayland Baptist University) set the tone with a dominant start, throwing six innings with nine strikeouts, allowing five hits and one run.

Traverse City 9, Battle Creek 5

The Traverse City Pit Spitters took control early and never looked back, defeating the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 9-5. Aaron Piasecki (Troy University) went 1-for-3, scoring once with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Brooke Sartain (Dallas Baptist University) went 1-for-4, scoring once with two RBIs. Carter Hain (Oakland University) went 1-for-2 with a triple and scored three times. Grady Mee (Western Michigan University) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Gianni Royer (Holy Cross) went 2-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and one stolen base. Travis Weide (Aquinas College) earned the win, throwing four scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit.

Badlands 6, Bismarck 3

The Badlands Big Sticks rode a strong start and a big seventh inning to a 6-3 win over the Bismarck Larks. Maddox McDonald (Trinity University (TX)) went 2-for-3, scoring once with three RBIs and one stolen base. Bo Shinkle (Gonzaga University) went 2-for-3, scoring once with two stolen bases. Tyler Weimer (Arkansas State University) earned the win, throwing seven innings with eight strikeouts, allowing two hits and zero earned runs. 

Mankato 9, St. Cloud 1

The Mankato MoonDogs exploded for nine runs in the fourth inning to cruise to a 9-1 victory over the St. Cloud Rox. Corey Nunez (UC Santa Barbara) went 2-for-5 with a double, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Sean Griggs (University of Alabama) went 2-for-5 with a double, recording one RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Connor Cuff (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) went 2-for-2, scoring once with one RBI. Tate Marland (Cedarville University) earned the win, throwing five innings with five strikeouts, allowing six hits, three walks, and one run.
