Saturday’s Northwoods League slate featured 12 games. The Northwoods League regular season has concluded, and the teams are now set for the divisional playoffs, featuring a best-of-three series format, which will kick off on Sunday, August 10th, at 5:05 PM CT.

Thunder Bay 10, Duluth 5

The Thunder Bay Border Cats outlasted the Duluth Huskies 10-5. Duncan Key (U of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) went 1-for-4 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring once. Kaiden Ashton (University of Central Missouri) went 1-for-5, scoring once with two RBIs and one stolen base. Dylan Snead (Ottawa University (KS)) went 1-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI and three stolen bases. Sam Schneider (Hawaii Pacific University) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Rowan Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jabe Schlehuber (Texas A&M U-Corpus Christi) earned the win, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit and one walk.

Wausau 5, Wisconsin Rapids 3

The Wausau Woodchucks held off a late rally and took down the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 5-3. Dom Rodriguez (University of Arizona) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Max Soliz (University of Kansas) went 2-for-4 with a double, driving in one run and scoring once. Christian Smith-Johnson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) went 2-for-4, scoring twice and tallying two stolen bases. Zach Knowlton (Central Michigan University) went 2-for-4 and stole three bases. Landon Gaz (UC Irvine) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Tyler Fredrick (Carroll University) earned the win, throwing seven innings with five strikeouts, allowing five hits, three runs, and one walk. Kade Douglas (Colorado State-Pueblo) got the save, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing two hits.

Battle Creek 8, Kalamazoo 1

The Battle Creek Battle Jacks dominated the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-1. Mitch Rowe (Centralia College) went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and one stolen base. Cody Hultink (Davenport University) went 3-for-4, scoring twice with two RBIs. Ty Tomlinson (Western Michigan University) went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Trevor Johnson (Duke University) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Madison 11, Green Bay 8

The Madison Mallards staged a significant comeback, tying the game with a four-run fifth inning and then pulling away in the sixth to secure an 11-8 victory over the Green Bay Rockers. In an extra-inning thriller, the Traverse City Pit Spitters walked it off to take down the Royal Oak Leprechauns 8-7. Kenosha 12, Rockford 8

The Kenosha Kingfish came back and pulled ahead with a four-run fourth inning and defeated the Rockford Rivets 12-8. Will Matuszak (Santa Barbara City CC) was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, and scored twice. Robert Newland (Kalamazoo College) went 3-for-4 with a triple, driving in four runs, stealing one base, and scoring once. Dominic Kibler (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, tallying two RBIs and two runs scored. Ny’Zaiah Thompson (Modesto CC) went 1-for-1, scoring twice with one RBI and two stolen bases. Drew Girtz (Bethel University) went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles, scored twice, and stole one base. Waterloo 14, Eau Claire 5

The Waterloo Bucks cruised to a 14-5 victory over the Eau Claire Express.
