T.J. Berge (Northern Colorado) belted two home runs and knocked in four as Brainerd Lakes Area hammered Thunder Bay 14-3. Berge hit a three run homer in a six-run second inning and added a solo shot in the seventh as the Lunkers improved their record to 18-16.

Dixon Anderson tossed a complete game shutout and the Green Bay offense capitalized on several Madison miscues in a 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon inside Warner Park. Anderson (California) was in absolute control as he threw a variety of fastballs, changeups, and off speed pitches to earn second straight win as a starter and third consecutive on the hill. In just his fifth start on the hill, Madison (18-14, 37-29) was unable to figure him out as he recorded seven 1-2-3 innings. Anderson struck the mid-90s on the radar gun near the end of the contest as he fanned seven batters, walked one, and scattered five hits. Green Bay (16-17, 30-36) also earned its fifth shutout win of the season.

Engell’s Blast Keeps La Crosse on Top

Chris Engell (San Diego) of La Crosse launched a game-winning 3-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning to cap off a 5-run ninth for the Loggers in their wild 11-10 victory against Waterloo. The Bucks had taken a 4-run lead with a 7-run inning in the top of the ninth, but Engell's homer kept the Loggers in first place.

Handley, Mower Dominant Saturday

Both Alexandria's Mitch Handley (North Alabama) and Thunder Bay's Randy Mower (St. Joseph's) were dominant Saturday pitching complete-game shutouts. Handley (pictured) blanked Brainerd Lakes Area 5-0 on three hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Mower allowed four hits and no walks while striking out one in his 6-0 masterpiece at Duluth.

The Madison Mallards (pictured) used a 7 run 8th inning to come from behind and defeat Eau Claire to remain a half game behind La Crosse. St. Cloud pounded Rochester 16-6 to stay alive in the North.

Robertson New NWL Strikeout King

Zach Robertson (Iowa) now holds the Northwoods League record for career strikeouts with 251. Robertson (pictured) struck out 11 in a 12-2 win against Madison on Thursday night to claim the record.

Oh’s Big Night Best Of Many For St. Cloud

Danny Oh (California) had the best day at the plate for St. Cloud, going 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Oh hit one of three home runs on the night for the River Bats as they stayed alive in the North Division playoff race with a 16-6 pounding of Rochester. Oh also walked and stole a base. Brian Humphries and Matt Fanelli both had three hits including homeruns for the River Bats.

Hudson K’s 10 Lunkers

Curtis Hudson (Elgin CC) was brilliant Friday in Brainerd. Hudson threw 8 innings allowing just one run on six hits and one walk. He racked up 10 strikeouts on the evening as Alexandria defeated the Lunkers 11-1.
