Jansen K’s 11 Bucks, Mallards Win In Extras

Despite not receiving a win for his efforts the performance by Madison's starting pitcher Matt Jansen (Purdue) shouldn't be overlooked. Jansen was extremely sharp throughout in throwing 7.1 innings while only allowing one run to lower his ERA to 2.62. He also struck out a season-high 11 batters in the no-decision. The Mallards were victorious 4-1 over Waterloo in 10 innings.

Brian Humphries (Pepperdine) lined a single over the head of the second baseman in the ninth to secure a 9-8 come-from-behind win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers. Humphries finished the night 3-6 with two runs scored and two RBI's, including the game winner.

Giller’s 4th Hit Puts Bucks On Top

Tied in the bottom of the ninth, All-Star shortstop Michael Giller (Illinois) hit a two-out, two-RBI single to center to break the deadlock and lift the Waterloo Bucks to a 4-2 victory over Battle Creek. Giller had an outstanding night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI. He continues to be the toughest out in the Northwoods League, leading all others with a .363 average.

Butt Goes Distance; Blanks Mallards

Wisconsin starter Bryce Butt (Ohio) went the distance in a complete game shutout, scattering just four hits while striking out three and walking two. The Woodchucks were victorius 6-0 over the Madison Mallards in front of 6,773 fans at Warner Park.
