Jung Picks Up Where He Left Off

Mankato's Adam Jung (South Alabama) moved to 3-0 on the year by pitching the last three innings of the suspended June 21st game between the MoonDogs and Duluth. Jung pitched seven innings total in the game, allowing just two hits and striking out five without allowing a run. Mankato won the game in the 14th inning.

Holt Extends Hitting Streak With Three-Run Homer

In the third inning Greg Holt (North Carolina) put the La Crosse Loggers on top for good with a three-run blast. The Loggers would hang on for a 5-3 victory over the Eau Claire Express. With the hit Holt extended his hitting streak to a 2009 season high 18 games.

O’Grady Lowers League Leading ERA To 1.02

Dennis O'Grady (Duke) threw his second gem against the Duluth Huskies this season, and helped lead the Lunkers over their North Division foe, 2-1 at Mills Field. The Lunkers have now won their last four in a row, which ties a season high. O'Grady shined over eight innings of work. He retired Duluth in order in six of his eight innings, struck out six, and allowed a measly three hits. Not a single Husky base runner advanced past second on his watch. O'Grady has now won the NWL Pitcher of the Night Award three times and the Players of the Night Award once. His league leading ERA stands at 1.02.

Nolen’s Big Day Leads Lunkers Over Huskies

Hunter Nolen (Northern Colorado) finished 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lunkers to the 6-3 victory over the Duluth Huskies in Game One of their series at Mills Field. Nolen belted an RBI triple in the first to give the Lunkers their first lead, and followed with a single in the third. Then in the seventh, he busted the game open with his 2-RBI double to left-center that one-hopped the warning track. He also scored a run in the seventh, and had his hand in four of the six Lunker runs on the afternoon.

Gullickson Wins Pitchers Duel In Bullfrogs 1-0 Win

It was Craig Gullickson’s afternoon at Jones Sign Field at Joannes Stadium as he outperformed Chase Porch with 8 innings of one-hit ball against the Alexandria Beetles on Sunday afternoon for a 1-0 victory. Gullickson (Clemson) fanned eight batters tying his season-high in strikeouts, which was recorded in his last outing. Throughout his eight innings on the hill, he tallied six 1-2-3 frames to earn his fourth win of the season and second consecutive.

The Madison Mallards responded with a big win over Alexandria after blowing a ninth inning lead Friday night. La Crosse blanked Thunder Bay to remain in a tie with Madison for 1st place.
