Tanner’s Three-Run Bomb Drops Mallards

The Battle Creek Bombers and Madison Mallards were in the midst of a scoreless tie heading into the seventh inning until Battle Creek's Jimmy Tanner (USC Upstate) changed things by blasting his first home run of the season to lead his team to the win. It was a three-run shot and the Bombers went on to defeat the Mallards 5-0 in Madison. Tanner was 1-2 on the night with three walks.

Robertson Shuts Out Huskies

Matt Robertston (Barton CC) pitched a complete game eight-hit shutout as Thunder Bay blanked Duluth 6-0 for its sixth straight win. Robertson, the younger brother of Detroit Tigers pitcher Nate Roberston, improved to 4-3 by striking out five and walking none.

Preckajlo Knocks 4 Hits; Loggers Offense Explodes

Justin Preckajlo (North Florida) led the way with four hits in seven trips to the plate in La Crosse's offensive explosion Monday night in Waterloo. Preckajlo scored two runs and drove in two in the Loggers 19-2 victory. He had a double and also stole a base.

NWL Alumni Granderson, Zobrist MLB All-Stars

Former Wisconsin Woodchuck (2003) Ben Zobrist of the Tampa Bay Rays and former Mankato Masher (2001) Curtis Granderson of the Detroit Tigers were named to the American League All-Star team Sunday.

The Green Bay Bullfrogs (Craig Gullickson pictured) knocked off the first half North Division champion Mankato MoonDogs while the La Crosse Loggers put up 19 runs in Waterloo to highlight Monday's action in the NWL.

Fyffe Gives Beetles Another Solid Start

Matt Fyffe (Eastern Kentucky University) pitched very effectively early for the Alexandria Beetles. Fyffe did not figure in the decision as the Beetles defeated the Rochester Honkers in extra innings. In his six innings of work Fyffe allowed just a single, unearned run on four hits while striking out six.

Langfels Doubles, Homers In Beetles Victory

Alexandria's Jayson Langfels broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the sixth inning with a massive home run that cleared the scoreboard in right-center at Mayo Field in Rochester, MN. Langfels also doubled in the game to finish 2-5 with the run scored and RBI in the Beetles 4-3 victory.

Miller Dominate Out Of Beetles Bullpen

Alexandria relief pitcher Matt Miller (Michigan) did an excellent job shutting down the Bombers in the late innings. Miller entered the game in the eighth and pitched three innings of one-hit baseball. Miller would strike out seven batters, striking out the side in both the seventh and the eighth innings, and record his second victory of the season.
