Fondon Shuts Down Express
adminRJ Fondon shut down the Eau Claire Expresss, in Eau Claire, to keep the Express from claiming sole possesion of 1st place in the South Division. Fondon (Florida International) kept the Express off balance all night as he pitched seven innings to earn the victory for the Duluth Huskies. Honorable Mention #1: Brad Mergen (Indian Hills CC) pitched a stellar seven-inning, three-hit affair as the Lunkers defeated the St. Cloud River Bats, 2-0. Honorable Mention #2: Ryan Demmin (UW-Oshkosh) hurled seven sparkling innings, allowing just five hits and striking out seven.
Roundy Leads Honkers Double-Header Sweep
adminRance Roundy (UNLV) helped the Rochester Honkers sweep a double-header from the Alexandria Beetles by going a combined 3-5 with 3 walks, a home run, 4 runs scored and 3 RBI's.
NWL Roundup 6/13
adminPitching and defense was the story of Saturday night in the Northwoods League. Three different starting pitchers threw 7 shutout innings and their bullpens held on to the shutouts.
Pritchett Tosses 9th No-Hitter in NWL History
adminHistory was made Friday night at Athletic Park as Bobby Pritchett (Central Arkansas) threw the third no-hitter in Wisconsin Woodchucks history in front of 2,876 fans as he blanked the Green Bay Bullfrogs in a 4-0 victory. Pritchett was the story from the start as he struck out the first three batters he faced. He got into a bit of a jam and in the third as he walked two consecutive Bullfrogs, but he was able to work out of the jam and keep things scoreless. He did not allow a run or a hit and struck out 12 while walking just three.
O’Grady Ignites Lunkers
adminDennis O'Grady, a two-way player from Duke, went 2-5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI's for the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers. The Lunkers defeated the St. Cloud River Bats 6-5 in Brainerd. O'Grady smoked a 2-run home run over the left field wall in the first inning to give the Lunkers an early lead. He led off the fifth and seventh innings with a walk and a single and eventually came around to score both times.

adminA total of 20 players and one coach affiliated with nine different NWL clubs will look to take home a CWS title beginning Saturday.

adminA No-Hitter and walk-off wins for Co-South Division leaders Madison and Eau Claire highlight an exciting Friday night in the Northwoods League.
Jaramillo’s Turn To Blank Bombers
adminRudy Jaramillo (New Mexico) pitched the second complete game shutout in a row for the Express. He gave up only four hits and struck out seven hitters in his victory. Chris Odegaard (MSU-Mankato) tossed a complete game shutout Wednesday for the first place Express (11-3).
Murrill Keeps MoonDogs In First Place
adminChris Murrill (Nicholls St.), who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 35th round earlier in the day, showed he was worthy of the pick, going 2-5 with a home run and two RBI to complement his walk-off single in the ninth. The MoonDog win kept them in sole possession of first place, a game ahead of Rochester in the standings.
