The Duluth Huskies (26-37) fell to the Willmar Stingers (34-29) Thursday night at the Beehive in Willmar.

The Stingers scored early on in the bottom of the 1st on a double form Justin Toerner and a single from Danny Mayer to jump to an early lead over the Huskies. Carter Hanford would score on a fielder’s choice to cut the lead to one. Then Tyler Midas earned his first hit since joining the Huskies to tie the game at 2 in the top of the 2nd.  The Stingers took back the lead in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring on a single from Luke Becker. Greg Lambert continued his Northwoods League dominance with hitting a double to add to the lead in the bottom of the 4th. The Huskies cut the Stingers lead by 1 in the top of the 7th with a single from Matt Brown. The Stingers would continue to score in to the bottom of the 7th, with scoring 2. For the final runs of the game, the Stingers scored on a double from Toerner and a single from Luke Becker to make the final score 8-5 in favor of the Stingers.

Fred Manke receives the loss after tossing 5.0 innings allowing 10 hits, with 4 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Drew Mullinax and Ian Schwickert each made an appearance for the Huskies. Bradley Bailey earns the win after tossing 6.2 innings with 11 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Anthony Garza receives the save after tossing 2.1 innings allowing 2 hits, with 0 runs, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.

The Huskies will finish the series in Willmar Friday night, before heading to La Crosse to face the Loggers. The Huskies will be back at Wade Stadium Thursday, August 11 for Wrestling at the Wade. There will be a wrestling match before the game! Gates open at 4:45 with the first pitch is set for 6:35.
