The Duluth Huskies Baseball team traveled to Lacrosse Wisconsin to take on the Loggers in the season opener. The Hits came early and often for the crew in blue, tallying 5 runs on 5 hits in the top of the first inning. Notable hits came from Rudy Karre, Kyle Hubbuch, and Augie Issacson.

Pitching was another key factor for the Huskies Tuesday night. Starter Ryan Cunningham (UMD) gave the Huskies the early confidence and set the stage for a solid performance for all.  Jackson Hickert (Ventura College) and Joe Gronowski (St. Scholastica) came in for middle a late relief. Gronowski struck out 7 of the 12 batters he faced pitching 3 innings of relief and finishing the game for the Huskies.

The team finished the opener with a score of 9-2 tallying 12 hits on the night. The Huskies finish the series off tomorrow night before traveling to Waterloo, Iowa for a pair of games.

The Huskies will finish the series with La Crosse before heading to Waterloo for another two game series, before opening at Wade Stadium Saturday, June 3rd against the Willmar Stingers. Season and single game tickets are available now. For more information, contact the Duluth Huskies front office at 218-786-9909 or huskies@duluthhuskies.com.
